The Mars Curiosity vehicle has successfully landed and has initially broadcast some images.
What are your thoughts on the implications of this mission? Will we find evidence of life past or present?

Streaming coverage of the landing in about 3 hours from the time of this post.

I just love a good countdown. The rover, if i remember is built to extract carbon from Mars is it?

Currently inhabitable places are Mars, el Luna (our moon) and other moons like Titan and Enceladus because they are rich with water, energy and carbon.

One of the most popular abilities of Curiousity is it's life-searching capabilities. It will be able to dig several cm into the dirt at a site on Mars considered to have the most potential to containing living organisms, or even complex organic compounds.

True, but what mars needs now is a reheated core to create geothermal energy and a ferromagnetic field.

Yes, it does. Especially if we're ever going to be able to terraform that POS  ;)

What I personally suggest is that we inhabit in the moon Enceladus. There's water, energy, carbon, spectacular water volcanoes, ice and rock, a perfect inhabitable place. But the problem is that it is in Saturn. Until antimatter is economically affordable and applicable, it is probably not likely we can travel there.

It depends... if the cat is Schrodinger's one, it is already dead... and alive!
