blacksmith - 3
dragonsdemesne - 2

Ugh... those last two games.  RNG hates me... I used it all up in the tourney, it seems.

Game 1: WIN

I figure this should counter most of the decks he has available.  He uses a shard of patience/wings deck with lots of weenies, and gets a 1 pend draw.  I get a 6 quanta/HG/eternity draw.  No chance for him at all.

Game 2: LOSS

I know he's got water that hard counters this, but I'm hoping he'll switch... he doesn't.  He uses a monowater with earth mark for trident.  1st game is a desync, and I see one purify in 24 cards, and we both beat AI; I'm hopeful that if he bottomdecks it, I can still win.  In the second game, he gets purify early and beats me with it.

Game 3: WIN

I bring the monotime again, and I get a turn 2 eternity, which he has no chance against with his deck.  He also had a 1 pillar draw, getting another one on the next turn, which didn't help matters on his side at all.

GAME 4: LOSS

I bring the counter deck again, he brings UG nymphs with wings.  With eternity, I should be able to win this nearly every time, especially if I also get procrastination.  Unfortunately, all four eternities are in the last 14 cards.  I draw an absolute truckload of cards with both nymphs, an hourglass, and four SoRs drawn, and I -still- can't find eternity until the last turn when it no longer matters.

Game 5: LOSS

I speedbuild this to give me some extra insurance against gases.  I get a 1 mark draw, and spend the next 4-5 cards discarding while a dragon and a vamp dagger kick my fat dragon behind all over the place.  I cast two SoDs off the mark on turns 4 and 7 as a pathetic stall attempt, and when I finally get a 2nd pillar, I play an eternity the turn after that, but lose shortly thereafter.

I just realized that except for game 2, every single game was won or lost because somebody got effed in the behind by quanta screw.

GGs blacksmith.  I'd been hopeful to win, but RNG decided to give us both a bunch of bad quanta draws.  At least two wins lets me survive to fight another day...

GG's dragon, really well played! Sorry for the last rng game.

Spoiler for decks.:

Scrabs went through wings and eternity removed damage. Not much I could do.

I played a bit risky and brought this deck. A normal death rush would have stomped it, I was luck I didn't face it. Even so this game got quite close.

I came to the conclusion that poseidon didn't help so much, so i added some congeals instead if he would bring pharaoas or death rush. Got a good draw but early eternity beat me.

Game 4

Deck import code : [Select]

I didn't think he would play a reflect shield and was quite sure this would beat the rest of the decks he could bring. I won quite easily, wings block damage while i was able to stack up with ug's. Even though he had 5 eternities in deck he couldn't draw any in the first 20 cards so dragon was very unlucky this game.

Game 5
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]

At this point I didn't know what to play so I brought something that could negate eternity and was able to heal if needed. Dragon drew 1 quanta thingy while i drew 6, I won way to easily.

Once again gg's dragon. Fun playing you and better luck next time!

Very bad deck match up for me - add to that the fact I drew 8 quanta in my first 11 cards and I was doomed from the word go.

Not a bad match up for me - but certainly one I needed to be careful in. Halfway through the game I had to consider his cards in hand. If he was running Ice Bolts he could kill me on the next turn, if not I had 1-2 more turns until I needed to Miracle. Because I had not yet drawn my Reflective Shield I gambled that I'd draw enough Miracles that it wouldn't matter. Unfortunately I lost while he had 2 cards left in the deck because I couldn't top deck a Miracle for the life of me.

Pretty much countered him here - though drawing a little more quanta wouldn't have been bad. I got a turn 2 Pulvy and while he got an early squid I just waited until I had a nymph and 3 BB in hand to slow him down enough that my golems could give me enough damage to win.

I drew a Miracle and he didn't draw enough Freezes - that's all she wrote.

I added 2 dragons at the last minute to counter the possibility he'd run a wings deck. In testing Trident caused enough quanta problems for a wings deck that I could manage a win, however he got lots of quanta early and I never drew a dragon, and that was the game :(.

Congrats on the Win, and best of luck going forwards

Submachine vs Jen-i

highest rank vs highest scaryness
6 ups vs 6 ups

MrSexington inspired me to try storytelling, so let me give it a try:

Spoiler for Game 1:
Monolight counter

Before the first game, I made 3 counterdecks: Monolight Counter, Pulvy Smash Counter and Ground Unit Counter. Luckily I perfectly guessed the first one.

Spoiler for proof!:

I didn't mention yet, but my counters was only good against the decks they were planned for. I know it's risky and I almost got retaliated from that.
However, luckily for me, 3 of Jen's Miracles and his earth cards were hiding in the later half of his deck.

But damn, I was one card away from falling down!

Spoiler for proof!:

But wait, what is this? Gravity mark? o.o Nuuu, my winstreak breaks! Is this just the beginning of the end?

I expected no deck change, yet now I really got hardcountered. :( But even this way, I was suprised that I could slow his deck down that much.

Spoiler for proof!:

And another mismatch for me.

And bye bye Sacrifice, I got hardcountered again. :(

...
But wait! I'm still alive and I got all 3 Wings in my opening hand. I had a nymph on the field in time and Jen forgot to use the Warden on it! But since i had exactly 12 quanta for the 3 wings and all my pillars were quaked, I luckily figured out that I shouldn't waste my air quanta on another UG. This final, improvised strategy won me the game.

Spoiler for Tiebreaker:

Spoiler for TL;DR. Only for RootRanger's convenience:
Submachine 3 - 2 Jen-i

GGs Jen. Your scaryness is true. :) I was always scared of picking the wrong decks before each duel.
Also, thanks for the good wishes! For you too. ^^
And we keep driving into the night
It's a late goodbye, such a late goodbye...

CCCombobreaker 3 - 0 Afdarenty

I can say the matchups were not particularly good for Afda, but I also got the right cards at the right time.  We both agreed it turned out a rather uneventful match.

Spoiler for 1-0:
I almost re-used the mono aether, but I knew better than to underestimate Afda's preparation and cunning, and I did not want to lose to drain life, so the skinny firestall was the choice.

He used that mono water beat down deck, but I got a couple elixirs early, and opted not to bolt the third queen in favor of a potentially faster kill.  Farenheit went out early and slowly ramped up, and the mirror shield was there in case of bolts.

Spoiler for 3-0:
I didn't see any darkness creatures, and none of them are particularly strong in this matchup.  The nymph queens however can get out of hand, so I added more rage elixirs.

Game 2 Farenheit did work, and there was no steal.  I think he had the quanta to 1-shot me, but not the cards.

Game 3 I got 2 farenhiets so despite the first steal, he did not have time to bank the quanta.  There was a DC, but I won both sides.

Afdarenty 0 - 3 CCCombobreaker

Outplayed here, GGs. Going deflag heavy was clever, it meant cloak and trident no longer worked as counters.

Without upped quanta my nymphs were dealt with quite comfortably by rage elixirs. Early fahren eventually killed me.

I was waiting to OTK, but 2 dragons in 17 cards left me with no chance.

vs Firestall
I fancied my chances in the OTK race without fahren around, so threw in a couple steals. I ended up drawing 1 steal, CCCombo drew 2 fahren, so I was whittled down whilst waiting for quanta.

I should have upped dragons here, 8 extra damage is no small thing.

Kuroaitou 3 - 2 DANIEELA

This was intense.  :o Good games DANI:

I thought an immortal stall would work against her rushes, but I was proven wrong. Despite the insane amount of Miracle topdecking luck I had, the Stone Skin and Shards of Divinity to boost my HP, AND a turn 2 Solar Shield, her army whittled me down fairly quickly as Dragons + Sky Blitz + Shockwave spam got me in killing range. 0-1

Game 2:

Withheld my Sanctuary in hand due to fear of her stealing it. Light Nymphs vs. 2 Vampires + Vampire Dagger + Dusk Shield meant a nearly endless amount of health trading, but my dragons managed to break through. I forgot I didn't have Hope in this deck. 1-1

Game 3:

Air rush doesn't give a shiz about healing, especially with Eagle's Eye + Shockwave combos to kill my dragons off. Wings also added insult to injury as my Nymphs flailed against the sky. 1-2

I got really agitated and built this deck on the spot essentially; in a mad attempt to 'counter' the mono-air rush, I made this mini-firestall deck to sort of eliminate any possible threats she could pack. Phase Spider duplication was my apparent target; lucky 2/3 Rain of Fire draws decimated the field while my sole Fahrenheit began to slowly slice some damage in. I dealt the killing blow with a Fire bolt. 2-2

Game 5:

58s 58s 595 595 595 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f4 5f4 5f4 5f5 5f5 5f6 5f6 5f7 5f8 5f8 5f8 5fa 5fa 5fb 5fb 5fb 5fc 5fc 8pm

Since I realized that the extra HP didn't do much in the first game, I dismantled the previous deck quickly to add in a more defensive touch with titanium shields to ignore damselfly damage and basilisk bloods to stall dragons. A first turn Fire Shield did wonders against an army of Damselflies, and, unfortunately, left DANIEELA without any quanta whatsoever to retaliate [no pillar draws]. My single Phoenix ignored Wings, and after a handful of turns of DANI killing my Phoenix and me reviving it to deal damage, I was able to accumulate over 70 fire quanta and unloaded my entire hand practically onto the field with Fire Bolts taking her from 50%~ to 0. Sorry that your hand was not in your favor. :( 3-2

Great games though again DANI! [I still don't advance I think...  :'(]
