CCCombobreaker 3 - 1 CrockettRockett (series completed)

Game 1
Spoiler for Win (1-0):
Ran Fractix, he got the most miserable quanta start ever.  Still he almost stabilized.  There was a DC on the last turn, but I won both.

Game 2
Spoiler for Lose (1-1):
His plan to get out Hope really would have shut me down, so I switched to something beefier, since his RoLs has no fractal to make the Hope big.  Again a DC on the last turn.  After beating him I copied my decklist and realized Morning Star was no longer in my vault.  Illegal deck = LOSE

After a couple day break, we resumed.

Game 3
Spoiler for Win (2-1):
Wasn't sure what to expect upon resuming the series, so I crafted a simple beat down deck.  He played a rustler-rush.  I bolted one dragon and there was golems going wild.  The match timed-out, but we both played AI and my deck won in both games.

Game 4
Spoiler for Win (3-1):
I sort of figured he wouldn't try to rush me again into 12 upgrade advantage, so I went with the trusty beat down deck again, as he had no hard CC available and his previous hope stall seemed unable to deal with creatures of incredible magnitude.  Turns out he did have some CC - thorn carapace.  I consider myself somewhat fortunate to draw 5 golems in the top 11 cards.  There was some healing, some miracle, some divinity, and some increasing sick golems, but the golems were still large and in charge.

dragonsdemesne - 3
ARTHANASIOS - 0

GGs.  RNG was really on my side today.  I expected the scoreline to likely be a 3-2 for one side or the other, given our vaults.  Unfortunately, artha got subpar draws in games 1 and 2, and I got a really good one in game 3 when he finally got something even approaching decent for his draw.

Game 1: win

Artha got a ton of early quanta, and I didn't get too much.  He deflagged my first three quanta, but I played sundial and drew two more pends off the top, which really helped.  I assumed he was creatureless, so I discarded my plague on about turn 3, and found out later he was using seraph rush, but didn't draw any seraphs early.  The second seraph he played, I topdecked the other plague and killed it.  Ended up winning by deckout.

Game 2: win

Wow... looking at artha's decklist, holy crap did he have bad RNG; most of that stuff I had no idea it was even in there!  He had two SoGs and a fahren really early (1 farhen... the only lucky thing he got in three games) but I bred scarabs like a madman and they eventually overwhelmed him.  He replaced fahren with a druid staff to buy an extra turn; the extra damage he lost would have brought me lower, but not low enough.  Artha never drew any of his shields, any scorpions, any firebolts, any heals, and I don't think even any emerald pillars.  He did get a LOT of fire pendulums, though.  My quanta start had been a bit low, but with the horrifically bad draw he had, it didn't matter.  The early fahren/2x SoG did have me pretty worried at first, but when he failed to draw literally anything else, I was safe.  I was also lucky that I only got one RT all game; they were mostly useless here.

And yes, that is anubis in there.  Pimp, isn't he?

Game 3: win

Artha had probably an average draw here, certainly he had his best draw of the day in this game, but mine was just ridiculous good.  3 quanta, 2 dials, procrastination, then I think HG and either SoD or sanc.  I played the shield asap, and just stalled and stalled.  I got everything I wanted, and had so much stall that at one point near the end I had all six miracles in hand.  I played one in case he was holding a pack of dragons in hand to OTK me with, but as it turned out, I could have gotten away without even doing that.  Artha kindly adrenalined my late blessed dune scorpion once I got him out, and I won by damage that way; it probably would've gone to deckout had he not, but maybe the dune+eternity would've been fast enough.

Submachine 3 - 0 Spielkind

AKA. 6 ups with uppercase S vs 6 ups with uppercase S

Spoiler for Game 1 (WIN):

When I saw the Lobotomizer on turn 2-3, I knew I would have been hardcountered, but his 1 pillar start gave me time to setup. I quaked all pillars on sight and kept his quanta under pressure by summoning all kinds of lobotomizable creatures. In the end, he just got outrushed.

Spoiler for Game 1 WIN:

Spoiler for Game 2 (WIN):

I changed 2 Wings for a Fog before the duel because I'm a retard.
I didn't use any upgraded cards, because I'm a retard.
And I didn't take a printscreen of the epic finish, because I'm a retard!

However, Wings sealed the game in the end.

Spoiler for Game 3 (WIN):

This was a decent rush vs rush setup, but I won cointoss all 3 times. As Afdarenty would say, "too close for comfort :)". Could have gone the other way easily.

Spoiler for proof!:

Winning the cointoss both times helped me a lot. :)
And we keep driving into the night
It's a late goodbye, such a late goodbye...

I dont use preset decks and my computer is TERRIBLY slow right now thus why we kept Discconecting, except one game where I changed tabs like an idiot. In short, first and 2nd deck were hope decks, 3rd deck was a rustler rush that didnt depends a lot of the rustlers and acted mostly as CC bait (which worked, but left me too quanta strained having a split between pends and pillars.) 4th deck was a thorn carapace sog sod miracle stall, he rushed too fast and got out a lot of golems pretty early. In the end it was 1-3.
A world war? Am I invited?
Thanks to skotadi for saying this in chat. Made me laugh pretty hard, and fits with me not getting drafted. :silly:
