Rest in peace, Team Water.  :'(

I used the same 9 upgrades in each game, even though I didn't have to. The deck functions at peak performance when I get 1 Pillar, 1 Phoenix, and 1 Immolation in time for a turn 2 burst. We set it up such that I'd have a 57% chance if I won the toss, 68% chance if I lost the toss. Assuming It set up right, the rest didn't really matter too much or weren't as critical. It set up like this in 3 of the 4 games, the 3 that I won.

Game 1 ~ Win

Expecting the Air duo, we brought plenty of Deflags. With a Turn 2 Fog and plenty of Phoenixes with cover fire from our Bolts, this game went to us reasonably comfortably. Nightmare did eliminate the need for Fog hax on the final turn though.

Game 2 ~ Win

Deck import code : [Select]
5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f4 5f4 5f4 5f4 5f4 5f4 5f6 5f6 5f7 5f9 5f9 5f9 5f9 5gi 5gi 5gi 5gi 7ds 7ds 7ds 7ds 7ds 7ds 7n0 7th 80a 8po

Not seeing any use for Deflag as of yet, I removed one in favor of another Bolt. Again faced with a PU based rush, this was exactly what I needed. However, I did draw the best hand I could possibly ask for. A very nice mix of damage, quanta, and support. Turn 2 Fog struck again. I had answers for everything early on, so this game was again pretty comfortably in my favor.

Game 3 ~ Loss

Still seeing no need for Deflag, I removed them in favor of more CC. This time though, they switched to Dims. Had I continued to draw my arsenal of CC, this would have been perfectly fine. But I only managed to pull 2-3 of them. Couldn't stall long enough to hold it of. No Immo hurt a bit too.

Game 4 ~ Win

Went back to the deck used Game 2. I figured it's versatility would make or break us. In the event they went back to PU, I still had enough CC (I hoped) and if they did stick with Dims, I had answers for those as well. In the end, it came down to me holding Bolts and waiting for quanta for the direct attack. I had plenty of support going for me early on which made this another fairly comfortable win, without Fog showing itself.

Good Games Shantu. Even with the vault you had, you managed to surprise us. Well done. You fought valiantly and to the end along with the rest of Team Water. Hopefully the future holds happier tidings for you all. Live on, brave warriors.

So -2 Ice Bolts, -4 Dimensional Shields
I play a creature, Napalm bolts it down. And that's about it. I had a shot at winning here had she not used a nightmare on me. Fog shield wins.

Second game: Loss
Same deck
Same matchup, except that I drew even less creatures and they all got bolted down. Fog wins again.

Third game: Win

So -1 Ice Bolt, -4 PUs
Wanted to surprise her with the Dims. I think it was successful as I won relatively easily. Of course I needed the following things to happen to achieve that:
- No immolations drawn -> no fog shield, no nightmare, no nothing.
- Lots of toads to draw out firebolts, then dragons for the kill.
- Deflags removed from her deck.

Fourth game: Loss
Same dim shield deck. We were hoping she wouldn't add the deflags back, but she sadly did. Nervertheless, Napalm topdecked everything she needed. I drew only one shield, which was quickly deflagged. Even though I froze her Fahrenheit two times, the birds ate me.

Good games Napalm.
Sorry Team Water.

Well. It's not really a counter if you know exactly what we have. All this shows is that Fire is versatile enough to survive even the most dire situations. I'm still sad the we're pulling up the rear this entire war. But if luck continues to shine on us and we can utilize events to the best of our ability, maybe we can pull through after all.
