It was clarified before war that in subbing marks can be replaced by a pillar of the same element afaik

uh that quote of rules doesn't seem to be relevant here...Zawadx wasn't even a sub, and the used card (pillar) is not what the "original" player doesn't have.

I'd say if the posted deck (with mark card) is the one in vault, it is 100% legal. The problem would be Zawadx brought a wrong deck to the battle, and thus should be given either 0-3 loss or a penalty.

The specific rule quoted is not broken, nor any other that I can see. The change did not affect the outcome either -especially since it was replaced to begin with, as is allowed per rules- so let's not make an elephant where there is none.

Now if Zawadx were subbed and THEN the Mark was used, okay: tiny potential issue. This is just a tiny error with no consequence: move along now, nothing to see here.

With that said, I also understand the other perspective; if we're fielding a deck that somebody doesn't have the cards for, that's normally a penalty-- it's all about how you interpret the mark to pillar substitution.

According to the rules, technically should be a loss to darkness. I guess ian or calin could have given zawa a code if they have one. I gave mrpaper 4 codes for his deck this round.

technically this isn't a sub. But deck i guess is considered "changed/edited" after deadline. Since there isn't clear rules on this yet despite all the drama this war, see prior rounds I guess

Since when did a war participant have the power of ignoring war rules? According to Zawadx's narrative he did brought a different deck from the assigned one.This is clearly not allowed by the rules, and WMs need to deal with this situation, whether this entitles to a penalty or not.

Moreover, purely personal opinion here, if no penalty is given, this is going to be a very very bad precedence since it renders deck submitting in vault useless. More importantly, this could lead to some match-fixing situations. Oh and btw, from now on team (and I believe other teams as well) will put as much as mark cards in their submitted decks, even though the final deck is using just normal pillars. Good luck with making war deck archives.

Darkness clearly had no benefit in this match by replacing mark with pillar. Can we stop trying to bring these small things up and trying to get penalties everywhere even though we know ourselves that it had no effect whatsoever.
