Team Aether...come on now, seriously?

might need a new leadership to point you guys in the right direction
I assure you, this was a group decision, not any single person or leader.  Again, we all will, as part of the Aether team, stand by this choice.

May I ask you something?  How the hell does this suicide help you?

I mean, the whole point of suiciding is regrouping your cards into fewer decks so they'll be stronger and you'll win.  The point /isn't/ to give shit cards you don't want to your stronger enemies.  There's a big difference.

The first makes you stronger at the cost of one round.  The second makes you a tiny bit stronger at the cost of the war.  If you suicide against every winning team until the war ends you cannot possibly win.

However.

Suppose you were to suicide against a weaker team, like earth.  They'd get your cards, but it wouldn't make them stronger (as they're pretty much doomed.  If anything, it might force them to take a third deck with cards they don't want), and you could use your new regrouped deck against someone like entropy, who over rounds of salvaging, has had HORDES of good cards.

But you're probably right.  There's no way in sam hell you could beat a simple denial deck aether.  Immortals are just too difficult to play.  Discord gets past phase shield anyway.  You should totally hand over a rainbow deck to a rainbow element.  Put your self on a goddamn buffet.

Maybe the rest of the team will want to suicide, but if there's one thing I took pride in last war, life has never and will never, suicide.

Well I wasn't expecting so much drama from a suicide deck...  If any of you took the time ti count, we have 155 cards so we use 150 at least, not much room to leave discords in our vault.  As for converting something else, you guys don't know waht else would have been given to them for 1 thing and 2, they lose se few matches so far that I ain't sure at all that what they want is build naother bh/discord deck.  I know it's bad having to suiciide against entropy but we couldn't make 5 decks that could win so we did just 4 and we choose to suicide against entropy because we figure our decks would do better againt light and fire... and we were right so far, we are 1-0.  I have no regrets at all of our decision even though I admit it's not great for teams trying to catch up with entropy

Props to almost everyone here for disagreeing without flaming. I, too, am curious to see after the war what cards Aether decided would be a better choice than Discords to convert rather than give to Entropy.

Anyone not on Team Aether can't make a fair assessment of this situation. Yes, it isn't good for other teams, but people in their respective team should be looking out for their team first and not others.

Let's say a team only has enough cards for 4 good decks out of 5 they have to field. Logically, they will use their good decks against the teams they are fairly confident they can beat, after assessing all their opponents. It'd be far worse for the team to use a suicide deck against a weaker team and use a working deck against a stronger team and lose against them. Two decks lost is worse than losing one.

Right, but what end-game is there?  How can you possibly win if you always take weak decks versus your stronger opponents?  The exact opposite strategy is required.

I think this is becoming less about this particular suicide and more about suicide strategy in general.  Surely this can be moved to another topic at this point.

Perhaps, but either way, this was the exact wrong move for aether to do.

fielding suicide decks was never the issue (the strategy behind them is a whole other matter)
the issue is suiciding by giving away cards that puts your opponent at a bigger advantage no matter if they decide to salvage those cards or not because the option is there, you presented to them and thats that
cant wait to see team aether's subsection after all said and done

good luck

No offense to team aether, but this was a pretty bad move on their part. Delicious salvage for us, though.

We saw this same thing happen a lot during War #1.

My philosophy is that 2nd place is 1st loser. Instead of automatically suiciding against strong competition and giving them a free win, you should do the exact opposite and throw your best decks at them. Sure this strategy has a high chance of backfiring, but at least you tried and went out with a bang. And if you win, you are one step closer to winning War. If you forfeit against winning teams, you are no longer fighting to win, you are fighting for placement, which I think is against the whole philosophy of War. You should try to beat other elements because your element is the only one that deserves a win.

Unfortunately it's human nature to assume that if you need to forfeit a match, you need to forfeit against the strongest team. That's a kind of short-term thinking that will hit more nails to your coffin because you are making the #1 opponent stronger. What is good for your team during a single round, might not be that good long-term, if your goal is to win.

Now donating the strongest team great cards in the process.. that's a whole different topic, and I'm sure something that we will continue to discuss.
