Crazy intense matches... And some drama on first game due to disconnect by Rob...
I have video recordings for all 6 games (including the disconnected one that I played out against AI).
Game 0: disconnect http://youtu.be/hAJHQD5BnFEHad a good hand, but Rob got disconnected after a few turns, I played on just in case and it was an easy win against AI, even though I did not use my Holy Light to kill off an early nymph which got PUd a few times later. Of course, it would have been much harder against Rob (he would not have wasted the silence in that early point, when it did not help much).
Game 1: LOST http://youtu.be/UX29KBgQwi0Started with 2 pends, a fractal, 3 dims, nymph and a holy light. A little more quanta would have been nice for start...
Soon my hand was clogged with too low quanta to play anything, so I had to discard -- I choose to drop a dim (1st mistake ? HL would have been smarter),
then I kept drawing more cards with not enough quanta and discarded a fractal too (had another in hand). This was the only game when I drew my silence.
But I made a stupid move and did not play the silence before fractal when Rob's dim-chain broke (1 turn before mine) -- could have prevented him from burst damage and silence and I could have won.
Game 2: WON http://youtu.be/WYiVAiWiX1kLost the coin-toss, but had a decent hand with 3 pends, a HL and 4 dims, so I knew I can relax for a while with all that defense. I drew more quanta and a second HL, then Rob played a dragon with 2 PUs. I killed 2 of the 3 dragons with HLs, then put up a dim -- he had 19 cards left, so I figured I could chain to the end unless he interrupts me by silence. Then I topdecked an Angel to finally get some offense going. I drew my 5th dim while he also started dim chaining at 79HP (I had still 70 from the triple dragon attack). Finally I drew a fractal with 15 cards left (13 for Rob), so I could lay down 6 angels. He plagued them but they can heal themselves so I was not worried about that -- I was more afraid of a burst damage and silence combo when my dim runs to 0. Fortunately, I drew the nymph so I could do some healing. Soon I was back to full health, then I fractalled more angels. Then Rob did the burst + silence, but only 8 dragons (and an upped arsenic), so I survived then put up a dim and healed some back while playing more angels for a damage win when Rob had only 1 card -- and I still had 1 more turn from my dim, so I could have won with deckout too.
Game 3: LOST http://youtu.be/kY3LfHwtSBQStarting hand: 4 pends, 2 fractals and a HL. Soon I topdecked and angel (and some more quanta). Rob played double-dragon and I could kill 1 and also play a morning star. Another HL took care of the 2nd dragon, so it was looking good with 70HP on my side 44 on his and I had 2 angels out and more in hand waiting for quanta generation to be played, BUT still no sign of any dims my side, but Rob just played one on his along with a grey nymph followed by arsenic.
My HP keeps dropping while his stays at 44 due to dim chain.
Oh, where oh where are those dims ? Dat RNG
He finished me off with a double-dragon dose while I topdecked my nymph on the last turn -- too late too little to save me without dims.
Game 4: WON http://youtu.be/-62-zV31Z44This was the most intense of all games (although they were all nerve wrecking due to the existence of silence & fractal-burst in both decks).
I had good quanta start and 2 dims + HL, soon joined by a 2nd HL and another dim before any damage occurred on either side. A topdecked angel drew the first blood at 18 cards left for Rob, so he could just about dim-chain all the way (if he draws them in time and I don't get the silence). I took a risk by playing my dim without any damage on the table on his side, because he had lots of quanta so I was afraid of burst+silence. Figured if I have some luck in drawing the remaining dims I can chain all the way to game-end from this point. Then I got a fractal and increased my offense to 5 angels on the field, but Rob has started dim-chaining at 72HP (I was still at full 100, no damage on his side). I got a nymph too and another fractal (but not enough light quanta to be worth using it yet). His chain broke for a turn and he got down to 31HP -- all yellow as I had more damage on the field, but then he played another dim and put up arsenic. I was still chaining my dims so I stayed at 100HP. I fractalled nymphs to have more healing power in case I survive a burst like last time. Then the burst + silence came with 10 dragons this time -- enough for OTK, so I was Oh damn, why couldn't I draw my silence before this...
I even congratulated Ron in chat for his win -- not realizing that his action happened while my dim was still up and he did not play another his side, so my damage finished him off before he would kill me next turn (as I could not play my next dim due to silence).
OK, so RNG decided to screw Rob this time, he did not draw his dim.
Game 5: WON http://youtu.be/-hQDer4NLw4Slow quanta start -- had to discard an HL, then Rob doubled his nymph, so I had to start dim-chaining with the sword for damage only. Then more pends cam and I managed to play and angel that got double-afla, then triple, but not quadruple for some reason -- could not have healed back that one -- so this may have been a point where Rob made a mistake, although ultimately it did not matter as I had another Angel + nymph in hand along with fractal.
Finally another dim-chain break RNG for Rob came to seal the deal.
Now that I see he only had 5 dims in the deck, that may have played a role in those chain breaks. Although my deck with 6 out of 34 wasn't much more dense with them either.
GGs Rob !
Good luck to you and Team
for the rest of the round and further rounds!
