I don't see this as insulting, it is more or less anyone who is not biased would expect. This is a combination of multiple factors:

• Since the introduction of shards, fire is doing worse. The last good result(top half) fire got was in War #9, where shards were allowed for the first time. Since then, almost every element managed to build new, good decks with them. Fire didn't really find new decks this way, SoP doesn't really work in fire, SoV isn't really better than Fahren + Bolts, SoFr is expensive and needs a huge amount of upgrades to work in fire. The list could go on, there is almost nothing new that fire can do with shards.
• You are a new and unproven general. First time generals are usually doing worse, especially those with no war experience. Vault building is hard and tedious, choosing your team is hard if you don't know how everyone works, you don't have experience in building multiple decks in a round and testing against various opponents restrictions.
• New war generals usually try to deviate from what has been done by the previous teams. While it is always good to innovate and improve on the past, if you are not careful you can end up with a subpar vault that is either missing key decks(the likes of firestall, grabbows for fire), or a vault that doesn't have backups for critical cards.

I hope this helps you understand why the expectations set are so low. After all, it is your job to set the expectations higher for next war.

It's not really the element. It's mainly how our team performed this war.
