Truth to be told, I don't quite get the mindgaming behind Earth's deck. I know Rippy wasn't the creator of it. But why so many Aether cards in an experimental deck which is going to be used against Aether?
Aether is indeed going to enjoy this salvage!

Truth to be told, I don't quite get the mindgaming behind Earth's deck. I know Rippy wasn't the creator of it. But why so many Aether cards in an experimental deck which is going to be used against Aether?
Aether is indeed going to enjoy this salvage!

We can't counter both fractal and rol hope with satisfying result. This deck could at least handle rol hope and a fractal deck with either spider or psion. Maybe even a deck with only 1 psion. So not a very bad choice under the circumstances.

 I admire you, Blacksmith, like very few people in the community and I believe to your deckbuilding skills in general. But Aether has a history record of combining both Recluses and Psions into monorushes with either Fractals or PUs (followed with 2-3 Lobos and usually no Dims).
 Moreover, the risk of giving your opponent more cards of its element must be one of these things:

1st: The deck is a very clever answer that counters very well almost whatever your opponent brings.
2nd: You are in a really desperate state where you go all-or-nothing and you have to pull out your very last resort.

 I suppose it is the 2nd rather than the 1st... Which is sad... Team Life is in that situation too, but I hoped that Earth would be in a better position...

At first thank you, it makes me happy you like my deck building and so forth. And yes we aren't in the best of situations and aether is perhaps the hardest element to counter for us. Aether is always an iffy matchup and we didn't want to risk losing a bow or any other strong deck vs them since the win rate weren't great anyway. So I guess this was the best of several bads we could pull this time. And it actually got a fair win rate vs their other decks.

But we are far from beaten. I think we got good deck choices for all of our other matches this round ( except mine ) so I still expect this to be a good round.

 Blacksmith, there is no bigger mistake than feel inferior from your opponent. That is going to always lead you to an overly cautious defensive deckbuilding. Treat Aether like any other element with its advantages and disadvantages and fight it back like an equal. That way, you are going to have a clearer mind while deckbuilding. I use this tactic when I feel overwhelmed by my opponent; I repeat to myself they're equals with me, no lower, no higher, and this helps me to fix my phsychology before the deckbuilding.
