Game #1 = Win
I won the toss and opened a single pend, but the deck runs off a pend so that wasn't too scary. A flown Eternity on turn 2 by Vindi was countered on turn 5 by a shield, with an early Vagger in play as well and him unsure of my deck I managed the win.

Game #2 = Loss
I won the toss and opened with 2 pends, turn 2 Eternity was countered by a turn 3 Vagger, but a shieldless draw and a playmistake in stealing his Eternity with Vagger in play may have cost me the game.

Game #3 = Win
Lost the toss, but with 3 pends in my opening hand and loads of CC I wasn't too worried, I'd draw into a shield and more SoV eventually. I was 17 cards into the deck before drawing my 2nd SoV and 21 cards into the deck before drawing a shield, but those late draws were enough to get a win

Game #4 = Win
Lost the toss, but great opening hand for me, 3 Pends a shield and 2 SoV, drew into an early Vagger and that was pretty much it.

Why would earth up quanta not shields?

only 7 earth quanta, 1 pend draw is common, so need to up quanta in order to play BB early. Or up BB. Tit vs diamond shield probably doesn't result in much different outcome and potentially slows down your stalling ability. Upping quanta allows you to play tit early if BB isnt needed.
