First of all, good games UTA, even though they were a bit boring at first. I took almost turn by turn notes for each game, and beware - you will see what Firestall
really does to the opponent, in this case, me.
Game 1: ?
Still not used to the new Devourer art. Got 4 pillar/pends in the opening hand, second turn Dev out. I suspected Firestall when I saw the Light mark. I was right. He gets out a sanc, next turn a Fahrenheit, next turn a sanc. I got out a dragon somewhere in there. I play another Dev and steal a sanc. He immediately replaces the empty slot with another sanc. Dagger is out, then another Dev. Next turn a dragon. Meanwhile, he stalls. He Firebolts a dragon . I EQ some pillars. He keeps on stalling, but my dragon and dagger are slowly wearing him down. Then comes a Fire Storm and a (unsurprisingly) Firebolt, so I’m left with 3 burrowed Devourers. I decide to save my quanta for a burst play. Then UTA desyncs. He said it went straight to the ‘You lose’ screen, while I was left to play the AI.
Game 1b: Loss
4 pillar/pends again. In starting hand. Draw a pend, play a dagger. UTA is having a slow start, just 1 pillar and 1 pend. He gets a Fahrenheit out. I steal the sanc he just played. Storing 2 dragons for a burst play, meanwhile drawing more pendulums. He plays a Fire Shield. Oh great. Well, drew a third dragon, then an earthquake. I save the dragon, EQ two of his 3 generators. (mark not included). I have exactly 30 quanta. Burst play time. First turn out, they stay alive. If he doesn’t kill them now, he dies. And dang it. Of course he has a RoF ready. He was at 14 Hp!!! I EQ two more pends. He plays more pends and a sanc. I EQ more pends. Yeah, stalls are repetitive like this. Out comes the first Devourer of the game! Not much help it will do now. I wish I had an Eclipse. Then another devourer. The game is not looking good now. I draw my last dragon. Honestly, I don’t think I’ll win this game. I’m betting he has firebolts in his hand. What a great predictor I am! Bye bye Dragon, hello sanc. Hello Devourers that don’t do anything late game. Hello fire pendulum. Hello Devourer. Why am I still playing this game? I’ve lost. No more damage output. Note to self: Don’t steal sancts, steal firewalls.
Game 2: Loss
Again he gets 2 quanta generators. Again I get 4. I play 2 Devourers on the second turn. An EQ is ready for the third turn. If I get my dragons drawn soon, it should be looking good for me. But I draw a pend. Play a dagger, burrow the devs. … Aaaaaand the devs are rendered useless by the sanc. He just HAD to ruin my good starting hand, didn’t he? He got a second sanc out. It’s not worth stealing the sanctuaries anymore, not that I had a steal on hand anyway… My hand now consists of a dragon and dagger. I’m going to wait to burst play and steal the shield if It shows up. I draw the steal. Now, I wait. He’s got 4 sancts out now. I need 2 dragons to outdamage his healing. Hey! There’s a Fahrenheit! And my second steal. I have 12 cards left, he has 18. I EQ some pillars. Boooorrrring pillars. He plays more generators and a sanctuary, I drew my second dragon. He plays the shield! Another EQ. I free some hand space for the heck of it with 2 devourers. Oh yay, another devourer. Are there more? *counts* Nope, that’s 6. Another EQ. I have 5 cards left. Where are my dragons? If I don’t draw one next turn, I’m playing them. I draw one, steal the shield, deal 36 damage. Hooray. I am so excited right now. (totally bored) He fire bolts a dragon. And there goes another one. I have 2 cards left. This game is over. I steal a sanc, it probably won’t do much. He firebolts both my dragons. Hooray for him, he wins by deckout.
Game 3: Win
2 Pends in opening hand. He got 3 generators. I play a dev, hope for the best. Get a pillar, prepare to play several devs next turn. So far I’m succeeding in keeping his light quanta low enough that he can’t play a sanctuary. Now, it’s pretty much sit and wait for something to happen. I decide to play a dragon. I EQ his pends, and hope I can continue to drain his
. Another dragon goes into play, he has not used any CC yet. I EQ his last 3 pillars and steal the sanct he just played. I think I’ve finally won a game. Yay!
Game 4: Win
Again 2 for UTA, 4 for me. My hand is full of EQs. 3 of them. I see spam in the future. Bye bye to your pend, UTA! May your sanctuaries clog up your hand!
Out comes another Devourer and an EQ on his replacement pendulum. Then a dragon. Denial is going well so far. At this moment, I’m really hoping I’ll win. Team Darkness has lost all its matches so far, and I’m the last to do my match. Another dragon out. Denial still working splendidly. I have 2 EQs stored for any pends he plays. Like that one just now, hehe. He killed a dragon, I replaced it. If he doesn’t get healing or CC, I win. And I win.
Final game: Win
I start out with 3 generators, he with 2. My only denial is 2 EQs. Though I do have both steals. However, without proper Devourer denial, I don’t think I’ll do well. Hey! There’s a sanc! And look! A devourer! I now claim this Sanctuary as my own! HA ha ha ha. I EQ a pend, and again, I now claim this Sanctuary as my own! Then I realize, or rather, the thought occurs. He’s purposely playing his pends one at a time. Oh well. Should have realized that sooner. Stalls do this to you, see what I mean? He Bolts my dragon, I have a replacement ready in my hand. And he gets a sanc out. Dang it. Well, he’s at 36 Hp. Maybe I can wear him down. I have 16 damage against his 4 healing after all. Dang, He bolts the dragon. And lucky me, I draw another (hehe) He gets another sanc. If he doesn’t kill my dragon now, I think I win. Heartbeat rises. He plays a RoF. . . and nothing else but a pillar dump. Phew.
