based on kaker's first line of text for game reviews, i believe they mindgated a similar deck considering both shields. that matchup would have likely ended up with a different result.

This would beat the previous similar mono-air UG deck that jenkar used. Why ? Because it was a soldier deck. i built that deck for myself but our merry general decided to steal it for himself. I think aether thought of something like that deck. The air deck used here tho, was built specifically to have two different sources of damage to squeeze possible mirror shield / dim.

in fact, 3 reflective shields make it clear that they did mindgate or at least considered high possibility. It is just that their deck is badly built.

so yeah for some reason i was blind to reflectives i never saw them before but still i think aether should've gone for one or the other and hoped for the best

If we go for one or the other, we die a 3-0. This deck could have been optimized to 31 cards, but then we risk losing to the 41 cards stall also played this round.
Look at G4, at least this deck made the Jenkster sweat a bit.

Scary match from Jenk's perspective. This could've gone any way alright, as it is when you leave things to RNG by using fat decks. You'd need all of early Lobo, Sancs and Dims to survive it seems, owing to Sky Dragon's nice HP.

UG > Dim Shield

Kaker would have to choose between one or the other, and if one was up, they were vulnerable to the other.

UG doesn't really > Dims. UG+physical damage does, but only if the Dim deck is slow on damage.
Dims+healing beats both that AND PC if it's splashed into the UG deck.

However, draw power can let an UG deck OTK before it dies.

Again, the main problem here is the inability to deal with Nymphs (not enough CC, too big deck) and Dragons (too high HP, hard to draw Dims with big deck).

No amount of healing will ever beat on OTK (in this case, the UGs).
No amount of Reflective Shield will beat physical damage (in this case, Nymphs and Dragons).
I'm not surprised we won

Nobody's said it will. The real problem, if you've -ever- looked at past UG decks with physical damage AND PC against MA, is that you can't stop MA's offence.

By trying to counter everything, this Aether stall has virtually no offence. Yet it could still work if the deck was smaller, thanks to Lobo. But it's not.

Aye, primarily. Secondary is that it slows down the spawning of UG's, but that doesn't really matter when there's no more offence.
