The thing was, in testing, my deflags were always there and I dominated with this deck.  But, the RNG chose not to like me here.
Or he chose to trick you during the tests ...  ;)

Hm, yeah.. I've done a lot of testing in the past with Monoaether vs. UG/Blitz decks that have Deflags due to several PvP Events, and Monoaether wins surprisingly often. That's why I felt comfy with going mono against Air, here. More Deflags and it would've been different. Good job deuce and jippy. :>
Heh, I ran mono :aether against a 6 Deflag variation of this deck before the round started and still came out winning 6-4 average.  Fog Shield makes everything hard to predict though, nice try :air.

What?!?! I thought this was a counter RNG fail! My mind is blown...
It's definitely not strong enough to be called a counter, just theoretically works in a way that Monoaether can't handle. The problem is that Air has no way of mitigating the damage from Phase Dragons outside of Fog Shield, and they do faster damage than one might think. Faster than UG's most of the time, even with Fog out by the middle of the game, so it comes down to physical damage vs. Dim Shields, where the number of Deflags is the decisive factor.

Here's a different match-up that comes to mind: http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,21155.msg288632#msg288632
The speed I lost due to having Deflags was just barely worth it as I blew up UG's and Fogs. Probably could've done as well with a mono.

Hmmm... this is an intresting fact. Monoaether is stronger than expected.

Yeah, can't really call this a good counter with only those 3 deflags in the deck. If we'd packed more deflags it probably would have been a different story, but oh well.

Enjoy the extra salvage :aether.
