Round 1.
Mark of fire was unexpected. A quick hope of facing Fractix was blown away by the first Farenheit. Not knowing what to expect I decided to sacrifice the match to figure out what kind of cc he had. Figuring out whether he had Lightings or Rage Potions (Fire Bolt was obvious) was an important factor in deciding which quanta source I should demolish. And it could help with strategic discord/evolve/burrow manoeuvres.
He was lucky enough to draw another Farenheit which was a bad information. I decided to destroy it not knowing that he had multiple Dimensional Shields in his deck. In the end I chipped his hp to killing range and prepared a final deflag. He won by a coin toss. Drew his 5th Fire Bolt and it was enough to defeat me just before I could finish him off. Still, I saw 29 of his cards and that was very useful.
Round 2.
Knowing I had quakes, he decided to conserve his quanta. I didn't see a stack of 3 until mid game, which was immediately destroyed. I was chipping his hp quite slowly, and I had terrible luck with novas, but for whatever reason a Dimensional Shield did not appear at 50 hp. After that round I reduced his hp to 36 thanks to a swarm of Graboids and my trusty Discord. Seeing his low quanta and having 2 Deflags I knew it was only a matter of time until I won. Turned out it was faster than I expected. Not only has he not played his Dimensional Shield, I also drew a nova. 2 Shriekers were enough to finish the match.
Round 3a.
I must say that the draw both of us had was interesting. He did not draw a single fire pillar. I did not draw a single quake, graboid, discord, but a lot of novas and pends. That meant that both of us would have their decks slowed down, but it's uncertain who would have the advantage. After a while a desynch occured and we agreed to replay. I drew a first Graboid in that round, but it didn't matter.
Round 3b.
I cursed my hand seeing 3 discords and 0 novas. Luckily the Pendulums were available. I saw YoungSot drawing 1 Pendulum. I was not sure whether he was deterring me from using Quake or if it was a bad case of RNG-strike, but I saw a chance. I played a Discord, and Graboid and soon after that a Lycan. This time no underground tactics, no elegant planning, I evolved recklessly hoping that my Discord would be able to keep up with his quanta production. Sacrifice made in Round 1 paid off. His
did not reach 3 for a long time, but his
reached 2 often. It was nice to know that there were max 2 Lightnings in his deck. When his hp was very low, I decided to burrow my Shriekers. It was the right moment, as he had 5
. Next round I unburrowed them for the win. The burrow was unnecessary but it was nice to save my creatures from certain death.
Good games YoungSot. You played well.
