What frustrates me is that I/we expected Dragons, particularly the Entropy/Dragon builds used last War. I tested against those, facing over 6 Dragons and other cards at a time, and managed to best them. This match should've been no problem, except for the event card. That allowed them to gamble to get Sky Dragons. The extra 4 damage was absolutely crucial; the last match wouldn't have even been a contest had it not been for those, and I intend no offence to The_Mormegil. As it was, I had backed up my quanta supply and had begun the healing process.
Round 1. I really went balls up, but I don't think it changed anything. I new it was EQs when I saw the earth mark. I ignored my gut and rushed my pends out, with several Protect Artifacts in my hand. I focused on getting the Titanium Shield out when he had no creatures instead of saving my pends, resulting in a next turn EQ. I went a turn or two without any pendulums, but even if I had drawn constant pendulums I still would have lost. He kept pumping out what seemed like a Dragon each turn, far too much to keep up with.
Round 2. I played one pend early, but held the rest in reserve. First card drawn was a PA. Played the PA, and within 3 turns of the start I invalidated half his hand and had 5 pends on the field. Sanctuaries and Titanium Shields followed shortly after. Eventually his Dragons popped up, as well as the nearly useless Owl Eyes, and I was able to keep up with ease. I may have finished with ~189 hp, but he was fighting against a max 305 with potential for higher, and I had several Miracles in my hand. Victory for
.
Round 3. Round 3 was much like Round 2, except closer. The beginning was essentially the same, with a handful of protected pends out. He got a Dragon out faster than I expected and began chipping away at my health. An early Stone Skin couldn't stem the tide, but I got my Titanium Shield out around 75 hp. I played 1 Sanct early, but held back on the rest, as I couldn't Miracle if I played them. I needed more quanta, both
and
, fast. Drew enough, got 12
at the end of my last turn. If he didn't play another Dragon, I would survive for another several rounds, possibly the game. Sitting in my hand were 3 Improved Miracles and at least one Stone Skin, and I probably would've drawn more Stone Skins to pass the time. As it was, he drew that crucial 3rd Dragon, and played it to get the last 32 damage as I had 32 health. Poop.
Frankly, I had the potential to win. Outside the first match, I really cant identify any major mistakes, and on the third, I think my lone Sanctuary, played early before he had two Dragons, was necessary. The_Mormegil played a solid, interesting deck and beat me fair and square. Good job
, the
is dimming already.
