Won cointoss, early thorns. 3 poison before hope came out, Rols played 1 by 1 (w/ minor misplay by UT forgetting to pay for the upkeep). dealing 9 damage a turn and this is shaping to be a very slow match. light nymph is screwing things up for me but it eventually dies. i switch to jade so i can prevent damage. heals are being nice to me though the dragon and the lobo are whittling away at my hp. he fractals a dragon but its too little too late...

Lost toss, we both get good quanta starts but neither players get creatures. early spines, 10 cards in, i havent drawn any scorps and UT hasnt drawn any rols afaik. 11th card i get a jade staff and can start whittling. 13th card he draws a RoL and fractals it immediately. none are played. after the 1st dies to thorns, he plays all & i get my 1st scorp. its not looking too good for me. upkeep dropped and i start playing scorps again, laying on the poison each time. then a desynch and i win by deckout, he loses.

lost toss, early scorp, he gets early RoL. i forget to play thorns but he has 4 poison counters on him by the time he plays hope. no fractal/RoL drop and i can poison him again. lobo drop and i cant poison him anymore. RoL+fractal drop comes soon after. dragon drop and im starting to get worried. nymph drop. gonna have to work around it somehow. desynch, ai doesnt drop factal. nymph dies, dragon dies, i finish him and win.

upkeep=RoL upkeep to prevent scorps from damaging him.

I keep on looking at both of these decks and wonder how Thorn Carapace could possibly help, but based on your play-by-play speeches dawn, I'm both amazed and completely shocked that it would work against one of Aether's most bread-and-butter decks...

thorns made him play conservatively and so that i could get some poison on him mid-game. they also killed the only thing keeping him alive: nymph

Why so amazed? Thorn Carapace is number two nemesis of RoLs (number one is Fire Shield). Moreover, unlike Fire Shield, the poisoning from Thorns can also kill Nymphs and Dragons relatively fast. 8)
