How strange life has been for me of late... I thought as I sat awaiting my next commands.
From my home land, the Democratic Kingdom of Japan, to this place. What a startling change. My mind was still in a haze, I kept thinking about what happened after that never ending flight from Japan to California; I had collapsed, scrawny as death and tired to my bones.
My wings still ache to this day and I do not doubt that I would have died if it weren't for the child that found me. I never learned her name, or her family’s; as I stayed at their house for less than a day before I moved on, but it will forever stick with me that the cruelty of humans far outweighs their kindness. As I was leaving that place I saw a man enter their house, carrying a rifle, and then I heard his shouts as he demanded food. I know that if it was truly food he was after he would have gotten it, because they were kind people, but it was not food, but slaughter, he had an appetite for. The sound of gun shots echoed across the still sea as they went off.
Before I even knew what I was doing I found myself running back to the house, my gun in hand.
As soon as I saw the blood on the walls and the bodies on the floor I emptied the whole clip into the murderer rifling through the things they had once owned.
"Stupidest thing I've ever done..."
"Huh? Asked a man walking by.
Nothing," I said with a smile, "just thinking about the past."
(Grenexus POV)
Grenexus cursed. The blasted Industrial Powers had finally made their move. He took off his headset, yelling at the rest of his squad. While he was by far the youngest commander in the army, the Genetic Alliance army people had seen his innate skills as a tactician, and put his in command of his own three person squad, consisting of an Asian, probably Democratic Kingdom of Japan in origin, who looked to be about 27 but claimed he was much older, although he didn't act like it, as well as an 11 year old who called himself "Muse," although he seemed to be much older than 11, he claimed he was that age, and Grenexus chose to believe him; distrust bred fear, fear bred hatred, and hatred caused death.
What a strange squad I have mused Grenexus. He and his squad were based in the southern N.A.A., in the Missouri Tip, the only part of the entire Midwest Federation, and even the entire N.A.A. that was southward of the top of a component state of the Mexan Empire that used to be called New Mexico.
They had been based here to ward of Mexan advances into the N.A.A., and they were doing their job to their utmost, and had fought off nearly an entire platoon of Mexan soldiers so far from their fortified base, but their ammo was running out, and food supplies were almost non-existent. If it weren't for his naturally cool attitude, Grenexus would have panicked.
(Temen's POV)
Temen ground his teeth in frustration. The only thing stopping the advance of the Industrial Powers into less civilized lands was
one squad, consisting of merely
three people! Slowly he was beginning to realize the strategy of the Genetic Alliance. Where the Industrial Powers preferred to barrel through with sheer
might, apparently, the Genetic Alliance preferred to use small, compact, teams of highly trained soldiers specializing in specific areas, each to do a particular job.
Admittedly, their strategy appears to be working, but that doesn't mean that we haven't elite soldiers of our own! He ran up to his commanding officer and saluted him. "Sir, permission to make a quick attack using my hopper?" while, for the most part, the army had issued him new equipment, they had let him keep his hopper, a spider-like mech he had modified to be able to hop long distances, as well as hover. The officer scratched his bearded chin, before saying "You may... but be careful, the men like you, and having you die to would impact morale even more."
Temen nodded, slightly overwhelmed with the knowledge. He moved away from the officer and to the Hopper, turning the key in the ignition. He saluted the officer again. "I'll see you again when they're all dead," Temen said. The hopper rumbled, and Temen lightly pressed the acceleration pedal, throwing it into the air.
(Muse’s POV)
"What's your name?"
"My name is Benj..."
"That's a lie!" Emma interrupted him.
"Yes, yes" nodded Remi
"Don't yell Emma, our name is Benjamin as well." argued Noah
"Who are you to decide?" Emma snapped at him
"Who, who?" Remi repeated
"Disappear, disappear" Muse screamed "Disappear, disappear" Now everyone was looking at Muse, who had a lackadaisical expression.
"New person" mumbled Remi not very keenly. That concluded our conversation [flashback]
The book fell on the floor. I bent down to pick it up, the librarian, Mrs. Visser looked at me sternly. She didn't trust and why should she, I was one of the dangerous people that were able to read your thoughts, stab your back without touching the knife or warp your mind.
She firmly held a gun in her right hand, which granted her with feeling that she can hector anyone who enters library, including me. I returned her look with a smile, irritating her more than calming. I put book into my bag and tried to leave as quickly as possible. I walked few metres when someone shouted at me.
"Master Remi, I brought the notes from Thijs you wanted." I turned around and saw Sophie, she clutched some paper in her ridiculously small hands. She was 8 years old girl with blond hair and shabby clothes.
On librarian's face appeared unhidden disgust.
"Anything else you want Master Remi?" Said Sophie before I could stop her. Mrs. Visser had hate in her eyes and felt it, she hated me so much that she would kill me without hesitation, however she didn't kill me.
"Get out of here Noah, or else." I took Sophie for cloth and dragged her out of the library. Rest of the way back to my room I didn't spoke a word, but I knew that I can't keep on like this forever, even though normal people learned to co-exist with small genetic abnormalities, they still feared those with murderous powers.
I need to escape… even the chaos of war is better than this hate.

WWIII Chapter: II
(Grenexus’s POV)
Grenexus smiled. Reinforcements had arrived fifteen minutes ago, and he, as well as the rest of his squad, was being shipped back up to the Separatist Republic of Quebec for debriefing, and, he guessed, a butt-load of medals for holding the Missouri tip by themselves. He wouldn’t be surprised to see a play by one of the traveling circuses within the next year. Suddenly, a… metallic spider? Dropped from the sky and onto the base’s enclosed area. Grenexus’s anger quickly turned to amusement. The soldier on the mech wasn’t even one of the elites; he was merely another grunt, although he seemed to be an able pilot. I don’t want to deal with this one he thought tiredly. He motioned towards the rest of his squad, saying in a commanding tone “capture him; I want to rub our victory in the face of the enemy by taking apart his doubtlessly unique mech and throwing its component part at the enemy.”
(Akikaze Shiro’s POV)
Here I am waiting for something fun to happen... and spiders fall from the sky, I guess what they say is true; luck really does bless the patient.
When the spider fell from the sky I looked toward Captain Grenexus expectantly. He didn't disappoint.
"Capture him,” was all I heard before I was off like a gun shot. As much as it hurt to morph my arms into wings, my wings were still perfectly usable, and very convenient. I speed through the air and sent a flying kick into the mounted soldiers face. He fell off his spider and on to the ground with a 'thud' hitting his head on impact, knocking him unconscious.
(Temen’s POV)
My last though before being drop kicked of my mech was, you guessed it, HOLY SON OF A- I woke up hours later strapped to a chair, in a concrete cell with only a slit to provide illumination. Fortunately, as that was no different from the Mexan army’s barracks, I actually felt at home. My first act as a POW? Not break down, not yell obscenities, not even make confused questions about what was happening, no I asked about my mech first. “What have you done to Hoppy bastards!” Actually, yelling obscenities would probably have been right too.
(Grenexus’s POV)
Grenexus pressed his fingers against his forehead. The idiot they had taken prisoner had whined non-stop about his blasted machine for the past thirty minutes. Gosh, just my luck to be sent to the same place for debriefing that this idiot is being held for questioning. At least I am able to gain a perverse pleasure from knowing the rest of my crew is listening through this too. Maybe I should use a sedative on him?
(Glenford Raleigh's POV)
I watched the war line in frustration, just like Temen I was fed up with are inability to advance through three people.
Three dang people! My brain kept roaring at me. Just charge in, it coerced me, then kill 'em all and dance on their guts! I was just about ready give in when I heard the audible grinding of Temen's teeth. It sounded like a pepper mill.
"Sir, permission to make a quick attack using my hopper?"
"You may... but be careful, the men like you, and having you die to would impact morale even more."
Well, I thought, looks like Temen snapped a fraction of a second before me... I laid back and watched him mounting his hopper. Let’s see what happens to him first....
(Muse’s POV)
"Seems like exclusively boring mind, don't you agree Muse?" complained Emma, Muse didn't reply.
Remi and Benjamin were playing with some kind of very dangerous toy; it had lot of sharp needles and many razors.
"Leave him alone, he spoke only twice since he came." said Noah, Muse just stared at the sea as he always did.
"I found it." blurted out Emma "His name is Temen and...." Emma started gazing again at the gilded pendulum clock on the beach. Then she picked up a stone from the ground and smashed it against the clock. Small hand and big hand deformed under pressure of the thrown stone and fell off.
"Now they look much better." remarked Benjamin with a mysterious grin
The sound of Muse's steps clashed with Temen's swearing through the corridor, that guy was really annoying, though some of his insults were funny. But Muse couldn't endure it anymore, he slowly opened cell door, a glowing tree branch held in his hand to provide more illumination. Temen was standing in the middle of cell and gave him a fleeting glance. Muse didn't fear him at all.
"Why did you come?" asked Temen
"To play, of course." Muse ran towards the Temen with stretched out arms. Every soldier would look at Muse say "he's insane, he's wide open", nonetheless Muse knew that all he has to do is to touch head and battle is practically won, Temen knew that too, he read many reports about this young boy with hands that hurt like white hot metal, not to mention his memory manipulation.
He elegantly evaded his devil hands and hit him right between eyes. Unfortunately Muse grasped his hand toppled him on the floor, from that moment Temen felt just intense pain pounding in his temples. His vision blurred and everything around him started chaotically spinning. It felt very similar to a "bad trip", not that he ever experienced one. Time passed by, 3 excruciating minutes.
"Hello Temen, you will have headache, but it will last only for one hour. And don't worry, I will re-create your hopper it will have just few improvements." Muse got up and sneered.
"Oh, I mustn't forget, my name is Benjamin." added Muse when he was leaving.
