Intrigued, Chip cautiously weaves through the commotion, over to the man who motioned him over.

Nile stared incredulously at the scene. A girl had just nailed Joey in the head, white chocolate apple bits were everywhere, and now some other guy (James maybe? He introduced himself as that earlier to somebody) was holding down the girl.

Unsure on what to do, Nile simply walked over to Joey, who had just dove out of the way of the girl. "Are you okay?" Nile cautiously peered over. That could've caused a concussion if that girl had a good throwing arm.

And honestly, losing the chance to partake in this experiment before it even started would've been bad.

*whispers*
"You seem like quite a capable one, and I'd rather not get on your wrong side. How 'bout we make a small truce here and now, before the experiment starts?"

Joey dusted himself off and stood.  "Yeah, I'm fine."  He probed the point of impact with his fingertips, "There's chocolate in my hair though..."  He looked around for Chip and saw him cleaning himself under the table.

I don't see how that was strictly necessary.  I mean what kind of maniac just chucks an apple at someone?

Joey walked over to where the girl was restrained.  He waved at the man holding her down, "You can release her."  He put his hand out to be shaken, "I'm Joey.  You are?"

James nods and steps back to his uneasy friend, the one talking with the cat now.

"How bout a small truce here and now, before the experiment starts?" finished by Yu'zsc.

"Me, as well. You're obviously no ordinary cat, and your owner, the one with chocolate in his hair, he can at least understand you. I will admit, this is rather silly, talking to a cat, but we are going some new place where logic doesn't really follow normal conventions. What do you say?"

Chip ponders Yu'Zsc's offer for a moment, and gently nods his head in approval. He puts his paws up on Yu'Zsc's leg and sniffs him briefly, then returns to the floor.

Nile watched as Joey walked over to the assaulter. Interesting. But where was his cat? Through the commotion, Nile had lost track of Chip.

He scanned the room and saw him next to two other men, one being James and the other being somebody Nile hadn't noticed.

Nile walked over to them, and as he approached hearing distance, he caught some bits of the conversation. It sounded as if they were making a deal. With this cat? What kind of men were they?

He approached Chip and ignored the others for the time being. "What are you doing here?" Nile asked, getting down into a squat, staring at the eyes of the cat, who seemed to be in deep thought. Or at least, deep thought for a cat. But then again, Chip seemed special. Nile could feel something different from this particular cat. Something even more special than the cats he'd seen everywhere in his hometown.

Special cat. Tell him your secrets.

Jane just glared at Joey.
"What reason do I have to trust you?" she murmured aggressively. She didn't know this man, nor did she intend to. She just wanted to pick a fight with someone, and he just happened to be the one to look at her. She had no intentions of apologize either. The bits of white chocolate in his hair declared that the false fruity treat had hit it's mark however. Maybe it would be good to know someone though. She sighed, "Jane." she just looked at him, and got up quickly. This man wasn't worth fighting, he had too many friends around as of already. She'd have to try again another time, if anything.

Chip derails his train of thought, and returns Nile's gaze. Chip meows.

Oh, right, I can't talk. Hah.

Chip meows again, and starts to creep forward towards Nile.

Claiborne a bit confused as to why a fight broke out. "Was it over the idea of playing a game of blackjack?" he thought to himself. But as he usually stays away from this sort of thing, gets up from his seat and wanders over to a unoccupied corner of the room and just stands there shuffling his cards watching the rest of the events in the room unfold. He looks at his feet to see one of the apples that had rolled over after that pesky kitty pushed over the bowl. Knowing what it is he politely kicks it across the floor to the other side of the room.

Joey dropped his hand.  Not like he expected this girl to shake it anyway, it was just a nice gesture.  "So why did you attack me anyway, just itching for a fight?  Seems like your style, just try to save it for the other side, alright?"  He nodded and turned away, watching Chip creep toward Nile once more.  Nile seemed like a nice guy, so Joey decided that having a friend like him couldn't hurt on the other side.

He walked over and stood next the the foreigner.  Joey lowered his voice and spoke, "He says he's here to participate in the experiment.  I can see you're rather fascinated by him, so I'll let you in on a little secret:  He's no ordinary cat."  Joey winked and went back to sitting, waiting for the last arrival.  There was one more right?

Jane sighed. She wasn't much of a people person, though Joey's gesture was kind, even after she had attacked him. Maybe he would make an ok friend after all, if she ever got the opportunity. He had so many already, would she really be able to make a friend here? She had already gotten on a bad foot. Walking back over to the far side of the room, she noticed another man was already there waiting. Jane quickly glared at him before moving over to an empty space.
