As the taxi cab arrived, Izabelle couldn't help feeling wary. She hadn't been around this many people in ages. She opened the door and stepped out, trying her best to look confident and unafraid. "Hey, young lady, that'll be $78.50." The driver called to her, tapping his fingers impatiently on the steering wheel. Ignoring him, Izabelle continued to examine the building in front of her. "Hey! I need my money." The driver yelled out of the driver's side window, his round face getting a slight reddish tint as his irritation grew.
Turning her glaring eyes to him, Izabelle spoke softy but firmly. "You'll get your money when I decide you need it. Right now, you need to shut your mouth." She dropped $80 in the window before turning on her heel and walking towards the building.
"Excuse me, young lady? I'm Dan Smithson, CEO of Departure Science. You're Izabelle Dixon, yes?" A man wearing a suit called out to her, making his way over. When Izabelle nodded, he smiled and asked him to follow her. They made their way into an elevator, and when they reached the correct floor, Izabelle followed Dan, a few steps behind him, into a room full of other people and... a cat? Oh great, a cat. She thought bitterly, a frown appearing on her face. That cat will make this even more painful than it would be normally. She walked over to the bowl of fruit, avoiding the others in the room and grabbed an apple. She took a small bite of it as she watched the other participants of the virtual reality test mingle and get to know each other.
