Derek was torn between running back down to the door to fight off the walkers, or to continue up the stairs in pursuit of the young girl who had run up before him. Common sense kicked in and he sprinted back down the stairs, past the other man, and to the door. Pulling his pistol from the holster on his hip, he held it out in front of him and, taking a deep breath, opened the door.
A crowd of walkers, maybe 5 or 6 of them, tried to come through the opening at the same. Derek began firing shots, taking out the walkers closest to him, but attracting the ones on the street with the noise as well. "Idiot!" He growled to himself, firing one last shot and slamming the door again. "You know noise attracts them!" He turned and sprinted up the stairs, catching up with the other man.
"We need to get out of here somehow, and the walkers are blocking the only entrance I know of." He said, keeping pace with the stranger.
