Special Powers - Skirmish - Patchx94 vs. Neophyte https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=30572.msg388563#msg388563

Skirmish - Patchx94 vs. Neophyte

"You shouldn't have rushed here so quickly, pal!" The arrogant necrophyte  taunts as Goblins step from behind and in front of him. Further back, a strange circle glowing with energy is present. It looks like you can either run back into the forest and hide, or you could try going for the circle....

SkirmishSkirmishes occur at certain points where the players characters fight enemies, using the game magical skills of Elements (http://elementsthegame.com/trainer.html) (Trainer is linked since it involved AI battles). There is also a turn-based movement system involved.

General Rules
1. Players take turns moving 1 space up, down, left, or right. They then can attack an enemy that is up, down, left or right of them (You may choose to not move at all and then attack). Attacking an enemy has you play against a preset AI (or in some cases the Game Master will be the NPC for more complicated enemies.)

2. Each team takes turns in moving their team members. Our current group consists of 2 teams : Patch and the NPC team (moved by me) Each turn, players will decide on all their moves and post them accordingly. You may sub for inactive players moves.

3. Similar to chess, the winning player takes the losing player's space if the winning player was attacking. If the winner was defending, then he doesn't move at all.
The losing player is removed from the board.
KO'd human players revive at the end of a Skirmish.

Battle Rules:
Without any Traits, you may only use up to 4 copies of unupgraded non-pillar cards  in a deck, similar to Team Underworld.

"Element" determines the card elements you can use along with Other. (For example, Azure can use up to 4 copies of Shockwave, Dagger and Arctic Squid in his deck.)
Traits are unique skills based on your abilities and some items. They allow you to bypass deck limits, use upgraded cards, etc... Some traits can also note negative effects.

Battles are best 2 out of 3. The weaker-minded AI opponents will not change decks, so try to outsmart them!
Post battle results on the Skirmish thread. If you played against an AI opponent, post a screenshot as well of each match.
AI opponents can be fought in the above-linked Elements Trainer using the the Custom AI3 function (I won't use Custom FG by default, unless the opponent is very powerful.)

This might be a bit confusing at first so I'll start it off with a simple move.

Goblin 1 attacks Azure.

Also since there's probably not going to be any PvP battle occuring in this skirmish, all players can collaborate or sub for Patch's moves if needed.

Successfully defended, Goblin 1 dies?

Move down.
Attack Goblin 4.

Successfully defeated. Goblin 4 dies.

Problem with this format: I can cheat by getting 2 wins out of 99 matches, facing a different deck, using a different deck, etc. But I don't think there's a way around it, so I'm guessing we'll just have to rely on the honor principle?

Yep, the honor principle applies here.

The goblins seems to shrink back in fear at the sight of their defeated allies. The Neophyte casts a Blessing in response, causing the Goblins to lose their cowardly trait and become stronger and braver.

"Looks like I underestimated you." He grumbles as the Goblins advance on you, slightly more cautiously than the first two had.

Neophyte moves up.
Goblin 3 moves right.
Goblin 2 moves down.

Lol, one of those decks is actually a messed up one I didn't want to use. That's fixed on Goblin #2's decklist.

Goblin 2 attacks Azure/Patch.
Neophyte moves left.

That's not fair, you never explained all the actions and I didn't want to slow down the skirmish with you only explaining the rules the next time you could drop in to update..

I assumed it was part of his character and that he's not exactly sane, but I'll let him say something. (His goal was pretty straightfoward to begin with)
