Coil 2 - 0 Princess Shaya

Hovering triumphant over her shattered form, Coil felt it's resolve fade away, leaving only a twinge of guilt. Slaying the sparkling creature had been easy. Her attacks were beautiful to watch, but simple to counter, and she made little effort to defend herself from Coil's steady blows. The artifact felt like a brute that had crushed a rare flower simply because it grew in it's path. Bending down, Coil removed a small, multi-faceted gem from the princess's corpse, then rejoined it's companions to continue forward.

Round #2:
Jen-i 2 - 0 Aqua

Jen-i prepared his blades for battle - setting his beloved Discord to one side he pondered his last encounter with Aqua, debating his opponent's strengths and weaknesses. Suddenly he decided - thought was not required here, "Just pick up your blades and throw them against Aqua!! - He cannot stand against my fury!!!" Hastily Jen-i grabbed his Discord, its brothers and three other blades and waded into the bloody arena, screaming for his foe to meet him in battle.

As the battle began Jen-i drew his Discord and prepared his magics to summon more blades to fight for him! However it appears Jen-i has truely angered the RNG - try as he might summoning a blade seemed impossible - perhaps Aqua had deviously enchanted this arena as well. Or perhaps the RNG really was this spiteful. For 16 long turns Jen-i endured before finally the summoning was a sucess, his Discord flew from his hand to join the battle and a long staff came twirling off his back into his hands. Another five long turns before this staff too would fight on its own - the battle soon was over. Jen-i was astounded at his luck, Aqua had eventually summoned a dragon, which Jen-i had turned to his advantage. The fight ended with both contestants exhausted (I was one card from being decked), but Jen-i had barely been wounded.

Jen-i had planned a different deck for round #2, but decided at the last moment that such awful luck had to turn and turn quickly, the same deck could offer him a second victory. And so Round #2 began. Jen-i stood in the center of the arena and felt the potential of his magics (I had 3 animates in my opening hand), however he suddenly realized that the RNG was again playing tricks on him, 1 pillar quickly destroyed by Aqua, a second found mere moments later was destroyed just as quickly. (In the first half of my deck I drew only 3 quanta sources). But between Adrenaline and my trusty staves Aqua again met his match. It would take all I had to kill him in the end but down Aqua would fall, again with little damage (I believe I EM'd this game - but forgot the screenie)

Onizuka 1 - 1 Dusk

Heading into this battle was not the best experience.  Not much love from the ability granted by this area took a blow to the leader's resolve, but knowing how badly he had failed in the first round fixed his resolve and with a clear head he was determined to fight off what no doubt was initially a daunting fight.

Going into the battle, he was confident that his wide range of powers would be beneficial in this fight. So he called upon all the elements, crafting most of them into a formidable assortment of arms that no doubt would leave his opponent with little ability to fight back. Alas, it was not that easy. Bringing flying Owl Eyes, the initially weak creatures were too scared to come forth and fight, only the hidden graboids were willing to fight. Luckily for him, the valiant arsenic was there to save the day, bringing about a multitude of damage that without, the battle would have been hopeless. Seeing the end was near, he rallied his creates to go for the final blows, losing some to the relentless aerial barrage of shockwaves and snipes. But with a second strike it turned to be futile, as Dusk could not withstand the barrage.

Realizing that his battle previously was a lucky win, Onizuka sought out the power of the arena,  Dimensional Plane. Tapping into the hidden powers of the battlefield, Onizuka brought out a new array of tactics that left Dusk with little to do. After a little sadness with a 2 pillar draw, Onizuka took the brunt of Dusk's attacks for a long duration, waiting for the opportune moment to bring out his trump card. The time arrived after summoning a mighty Phase Dragon, the time to slip out of this plane into the protection of the arena. Equipping the dimensional shield, Onizuka hid into the plane, summoning dragon after dragon to take down Dusk with no danger to himself. Replenishing his shield, Onizuka sent his dragons to deliver the final blow, ending the challenge that Dusk had initially brought with the mighty forces of the Dimensional Plane.

I don't have any restrictions.

I'm fine with moving back to 3. It's more random, which I don't like, but in many cases it will be possible to overcome that RNG factor by including more than one countering method in a deck, which requires more deckbuilding skill, which I do like.

So I'm fine with either rule, really.
