Combining ideas from MtG and Hearthstone tournaments in a uniquely EtG way.

Elemental Conquest - Rules
Original idea by: theelkspeaks
Players must duel each other and win with three distinct decks!

1. HOW TO SIGN UP?
Anyone with a forum and a chat account can sign up for this event. Start by reading the rules very carefully. Then sign up by posting in the sign-up thread!

Minimum number of participants for this event is 16.

2. GETTING READY
Build three decks for round 1, and one deck for each subsequent round!

3. BRACKETS
Players will play a Best of 5 match in each round, and be ranked according to total game wins.  Pairings will be determined by a modified Swiss-like format.  Starting with round 3, there will be a cut after every round.
Based on an assumption of 32 players, the following number of players will remain after the following rounds.  If there are more or less than 32, these numbers may be modified.

Round 3 - 20 players
Round 4 - 14 players
Round 5 - 10 players
Round 6 - 6 players
Round 7 - 4 players
Round 8 - 2 players
Round 9 - 1 player.

Ties will be broken according to the better match record first, then the fewest game losses 2nd.  The final tiebreaker will be the players' N-score, which is the product of opponent wins and wins against that opponent.  If there is still a tie, a sudden death Bo1 will be played, using the most recent decks each player won with.  This game does not count towards future records of either player.

4. DUELS
Players have approximately 7 days to make the fight happen. They must contact their opponent using a PM, and try to find a time that suits both. If the fight doesn't happen, both players lose by default, unless one player is clearly more active in trying to find a suitable time. Event organizer will determine who the most active player was, and his or her word is final.  If you and your opponent are unable to find a time to duel within the time limit, you must PM the organizer asking for an extension BEFORE the round timer runs out.

The following rules govern deckbuilding:
You may only use up to 6 copies of any non-pillar/pendulum card across all 3 of your decks.
Any pillar or pendulum card may be used in unlimited number, but only in 1 of your 3 decks.
You must submit your three decks to the organizer before your match.
In the first round, players may have 4 upgraded cards per deck.  In each subsequent round, players gain 2 upgrades per deck.
Total deck size must be between 100 and 150.
At the end of the round, you may replace ONE of your three decks with any deck such that your new lineup is still legal.  The other two decks may not be modified in any way other than adding 2 upgrades.

The following rules govern each match:
Each player must reveal the marks of their three decks to their opponent before the match begins.
Each player may choose any deck they have not yet won with within a match for each game.
A match ends when a player has achieved a win with each of their three decks.

It's a good idea to either record the matches, or take screenshots as proof, in case something weird, like a desync error, happens. Remember, a player who gets caught cheating, will be permanently banned from all Elements community PvP events, so please play fair.

5. AFTER DUELS
Winner should post in the round topic in the "Battle Results" section, along with short description of how the match went. Both the winner and the loser are required to post their decks.

6. ELIMINATIONS AND WINNER
Eliminations are described above.  The winner is the player with the most game wins at the end of Round 9.

7. REWARDS
As per revised code policy, the winner will receive a nymph/mark code and an award icon.
The top 4 players will receive World Championship points, most likely 10/4/2/1 pending final review from the PVPOs.

8. FAQ
Spoiler for FAQ:
Q: Is [sample deck] legal?
A: Post it and ask, I'll add it to the FAQ! (I'm not sure what aspects of the rules are confusing, I tried to make it straightforward).

Q: Will I play the same opponent over and over?
A: The modified Swiss system is designed to avoid repeat matchups.

Meaning that all your decks, with the card count totaled, must be >=100, but <=150 if I understand that right

Unless I got things incorrectly or Elk says otherwise, it means that the total of cards included in your three decks should be 100-150.
That is, you may have a 30-35-35 (100 cards total), a 45-60-45 (150 cards total), but not a 30-30-30 (90 cards total) nor a 60-60-60 (180 cards total)

(PS: Looks like I'm not going to be able to jump in due to RL considerations. Sorry, Elkie~ ^^;)

Question: If we have only 3 decks against one opponent, but the game is a Bo5, leading to possible 9 games in a match, can we distribute our deck usage anyway we want? E.g: Can i solo all 9 games with the same deck or can i alternate between only 2 decks randomly?
And we keep driving into the night

I think you've misunderstood the win con...

You win the match by having 1 or more duel-wins with each of your 3 decks.

I sure did, but i think i understand it now. :) I don't know why but i interpreted Bo5 as "You have to win 5 times to advance" instead of "You have to play 5 games and the person with more wins advances".
I also didn't notice the part where it says how one must use the 3 decks. It's a sly little sentence~

So each deck has to use a different type of pillar?
A player of cards, Elements cards that is.
