Add me to the stack of atheists, although I'm not atheist enough for some atheists. :D
I think it's possible that god(s) exist(s), but I don't see any reason to worry or care about it.

I developed a new theory. The Universe is in a bottle. Think about it.

That's actually a fairly common view. I also belong to this category, which is generally called weak atheism. A good way to look at it is on a scale from 1 to 7, with absolute certainty that god exists being a 1 and absolute certainty that he doesn't being a 7. I am a 6, because being 7 requires a leap of faith that I'm not willing to make.

I am curious though, what DO you believe? Atheism tells us what you don't believe, but what do you believe?

I say, people either base their beliefs on what they have been taught or what they have experienced. Then there are folks that use a combination of both. I am someone that is in the last group. I was raised a baptist and generally hold much of what I have been taught to be true. I have also have gone through some things that the church doesn't talk about, and many prefer to deny. I sorry but I have to remain vague and I may have mentioned some of this before in an old topic.

I'm Catholic and I believe I'm truly that way because I was born into a very Catholic family. I don't believe the Bible word for word, but I think God guided the sciences yet did not control evolution.

Yeah, I didn't feel like writing a definition of weak atheism at the time, but thanks for doing it :)

I'm not sure I understand the question. Must I believe? You may as well ask me what I sculpt. I am not a sculptor; sculpting is not something I do, therefore I cannot tell you what I sculpt. It is the same with religious belief.

i believe there is no such thing as fact. there is absolutely no way you can know for sure something is as it seems... i suppose that is the only thing i consider fact. your ind can play tricks on you, so how can you trust it? that is what i call madness, which is what i embrace wholeheartedly.

I agree. There is no absolute certainty. We still manage to live based on a set of assumptions and beliefs.
