just because a belief does not require a stretch of my imagination does not mean it is not a belief.
i believe that i am typing. i believe i am a human. when i think "belief" i think "anything a person thinks is true".
belief system is different. a belief system implies that all of your beliefs are based around that system.
neither theism nor atheism are neccecarily belief systems. theism is more likely to be a belief system.
but the thematics of the word belief dont matter. what matters is the burden of proof is always on the one trying to change the others beliefs.
your example did not make sense. law enforcement would not try nor be able to change your beliefs. they would stop you by force.
poeple are aloud to believe whatever they want if it only effects themselves. as soon as it affects someone else, they may be in the wrong.
but that has nothing to do with this discussion.
this discussion is about prosletizing(or however you spell it) and while admitedly theists tend to do this more, atheists also do this, and they are both in the wrong.
