He's too educated to say 100%. And 100% or 99.99%, that's not my point. My point was that he and some people are way too overconfident in their right. And I still find him unpleasant.

Why shouldn't he be confident? No evidence has been offered to take him away from that point, so why shouldn't he be there? He's said on several different occasions that he's be willing to convert if enough evidence was provided.

Also, you dismiss the difference between 99% and 100%, but this difference is HUGE. It's this difference that separates a position based on evidence and a position based on faith.

As for finding him unpleasant, that's completely your choice and it's yours to make.

The hitch-hikin' Douglas Adams:

"Now it is such a bizarrely improbably coincidence that anything so mindbogglingly useful [the Babel fish] could have evolved by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God.
The argument goes something like this: "I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."
"But," says Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED"
"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic."

Nice job necro-bumping. Anyways, on-topic:

I'd be between me and Terry Pratchett.

I never do well with "who/what is the greatest?" questions. I don't process the world that way, I guess. People may be interested to look at the Celebrity Atheist List (http://www.celebatheists.com/wiki/Main_Page). Lots of entries from all walks of life. Agnostics and the ambiguous are listed in their own sections too.

Siddhartha. (aka Buddha)
founder of budhism is atheist ?
(now that i know what agnostic atheist means) yes.
TECHNICALLY all religions are atheist, it just depends on who it is thats looking. a jew is an atheist int he eyes of a christian or a catholic. a christian is an atheist in the eyes of a muslim. do you see the pattern im hinting at?
Actually, a jew isn't an atheist in the eyes of a christian because they believe in the same god. Jews just believe the old testament only, and that the christ hasn't come yet

Cynic that I am, I would have to say Bingham Young or Muhammad, or maybe even Jesus...
In my opinion, they took advantage of people's beliefs and MADE a religion. Shame on you... to be so anti-religious as to have the guts to make one to manipulate people.

No offense to to those Mormons, Christians, and Muslims out there. Just substitute your specific religion founder with someone else.
I myself am religious. And a little bit cynical, but still religious.

You clearly don't no anything abut the bible, so you should shut your mouth. Jesus did not make a religion, Jesus was prophesied about and he fulfilled those prophecies. Bingham young did make up a religion though. Please do research before you bag on other religions, look up stuff from the other people's perspective not what other people tell is wrong with the religions. I'm not saying to accept them, just study them first.

Norman Borlaug, happened to be atheist but is better known for making advancements in the genetic engineering of crops and feeding thousands if not millions of people. Also from my home state so he gets props for that too.
