you should also suggest authors that belong to the other side of the argument (richard dawkins, christopher hitchens etc) and what about other forms of media such as shows and movies. there is a show called the atheist experience which i think is a great show. but if you truely are interested in the topic, do go watch lee strobel and others, but also look up the refutations of those

I was hoping persons such as yourself would recommend books to represent the atheistic view.

If I were to introduce the readings for both sides of a debate then it would be extremely easy for me to bias the discussion.

Even if I were completely 100% free from any ulterior motives (no human being is) and only wanted a balanced discussion, the fact that I'm still theist clearly demonstrates that I did not find what I've read from the atheist authors convincing. Therefore even if I'm putting forth every effort to be fair I still could not give a fair account of an atheist worldview.

That being said, is there anything is specific from Dawkins or Hitchens you would recommend? I don't own a television so I'm afraid watching the show would be tricky for me (unless it's online?).

Yes but even if you don't find the atheist "worldview" unconvincing then you should expect others who read it and the opposing side would find it unconvincing as well.

no specifics really just try to read both sides of the argument is all i want to say. as for the show it can be seen here http://www.atheist-experience.com/archive/ it's a good show but sometimes they get really dumb people (if you watch this show keep in mind that the callers don't represent tthe majority of theists). but they also have some great conversations. btw if you watch it just listen to it, they don't actually do anything visual
