Actually, I am one to take the Bible as fact. If the Bible is nothing more than a metaphor and a collection of stories, then God is merely a metaphor, a model of perfection from which we developed a system of man-made doctrines and laws to try to be Godly people. In fact, the very people that chose to adhere to these rituals and practices so rigidly are the ones that God condemned time and time again in the Bible, because they were more concerned in the rituals themselves rather than the reason for those rituals. God doesn't want things or ceremonies, but hearts of worship to Him.
Ah, this is where I differ from you.
While I see the point about God wanting hearts of worship, I believe that since God is forgiving, that someone who has not been brought up the Christian way, and did not seek it out, but still 'behaved well' (poor choice of words, but my meaning is clear), then God will still accept him/her if they chose to accept Him. This may differ from certain passages, but it is my view.
And my sentence "Most of the bible is metaphoric" was another of my unintelligent, general statements, made to 'counter' the things which Destiny is saying - the word 'most' being the key failure on my part, suggesting more than is to be taken literally. In my opinion there is a balance, but my statement did nothing to express that.
