Do you know what's wrong with atheists? They claim religion judge their actions, but they are the ones who always judge religious people with the most provoking way. They greatly disaprove of religious propagandas but they are some of the most propagandist people themselves.

In other words, though atheism was progressive a few decades (or centuries) ago, right now has every characteristic a religion has:
* Mocking, judging, insulting and making fun of whoever/whatever doesn't believe in what you do.
* Propagating your ideas to others shippingly, hoping they are going to join your bandagon (mormons favor bell-ringing, atheists favor worldwideweb, little difference).
* Believing their way is the only righteous way.
* Accepting science and common sense as long as it serves their ends, but discarding any part that doesn't fit their ideology (for example, atheists can't accept they just CAN'T prove that God doesn't exists, the same way religious people can't accept they CAN'T prove that God exists).

Believe me, I was an atheist for a great part of my life and I just hate what atheism has become... it has transformed into one of the most narrow-minded modern religions.

Back to the comic, the only part I really liked was the one the parent asks the opinion of the child about the afterlife. Nice, non-provoking, clever and shows respect to the beliefs of each individual.

I personally don't give a damn about what other people believe. Not sure how common this outlook is.

I don’t really care about a person’s religion. I’m catholic, does that mean I can’t be friends with an atheist, for example?

The answer is clearly no. And religion wars are the most stupid thing ever, but that’s another thing.

Kill for your religion? Try to convert other people to your religion? Clearly no.

Each and every one of us has to find it’s religion depending on his beliefs. Just don’t insult other people’s religion, that’s all.

God? Allah? Buddah? Does it change your relation to other people? Didn’t They say to accept and help the people around you? Then, why fight?

Note: sorry if I misspelled any of the above.

And about atheists? Well, to them their God is science. Nothing wrong with that, but don’t make fun os someone who believes in God. And religious people, don’t try to convince them to believe. As simple as that.

On a totally unrelated note, I’m against any kind of war. War is stupid, it’s just leader’s way of using people to achieve their foolish and selfish goals, but that’s another topic.

Just try to accept the people around you.

Thank god there are still atheists like this out there. I was once atheist, as I have already said, and one thing that turned me away was their narrow-mindness which manytimes surpassed the narrowmindess of religious people. Nice to hear that, rippy.

Yes, I indeed feel superior to both; not superior to power or skill or intelligence, but superior to the very fact I believe any belief is personal and not universal. You can prove neither God exists nor He doesn't so why to try to force anyone in our religion? Even if our religion is there is no real religion, it is still a kind of "religion".

And about atheists? Well, to them their God is science.

 I totally agree with anything you've written down, ian, except for the above quoted phrase. Atheists believe there is no God out there, but for them science is just a tool to achieve their ends (much like religious people actually).

 Let's say a highly skilled and widely respected professor proved (by any scientific means) that God DOESN'T exist. Let's suppose how people would react to this...
Typical religious person: "That scientist is just an arrogant person!" or "Science is the work of evil!"
Typical atheist person: "See? I told ya God doesn't exist!" or "Science has released mankind from another primordial belief system!"

 Now, let's say a highly skilled and widely respected professor proved (by any scientific means) that God DOES exist. Let's suppose how people would react to this...
Typical religious person: "See? Even science proves that God exists!" or "Science has released mankind from another fake modern belief system!"
Typical atheist person: "Meh! What kind of noob professor is this?" or "Scientists these days say whatever they're paid to say!"

 Despite of these reactions to be a little exaggerated, I think you get what I mean. In both cases (atheist and religious) science is "good" if prove us right and "evil" if proves us wrong. Typical human behaviour...

It sounds like atheism is some kind of community and that their actions made you want to join something else. I just found that a bit odd since I view atheism as a way of thinking about one certain thing and not like a community, and even if you don't like how some people act that believes the same thing as you do, how could that change what you believe?   I mean if you and a few others believed that vanilla ice cream has the very best taste, would that change if a few of those people acted like idiots?

Yeah I more or less agrees with you that some atheist clearly disrespect religious people and have an arrogant approach. They don't really see what religion really is and what it means to people, which is very sad. However I would not say that atheism is a religion nor a community, just a way to view one thing.

And regarding that people with the same beliefs form a community. That is most likely true where they are a minority. I live in a country where most people are atheist so they don't form a bound in a same way as in other countries I guess.

I'm a christian. Typical behavior for the people at my church if a God-believing person proved God existed through scientific means would probably be "Well, what are the atheists gonna do now? We not only just proved them wrong through using logic they believe in, but we also proved we're right through logic they believe in."
