Perhaps we could look at the historical facts in the Bible and see if they are true. The hard problem is: Is this book what it says it is? Is this God speaking?
It's really hard to prove if the bible is true. But not just because it's been so long ago, also because many events in the Bible require God's existence for them to be true. Can we prove that Moses lead the people of Israel out of Egypt? Difficult, but perhaps we can. Can we prove that it was God who told Moses what to do and how to do it? Guess not.
So even if we could prove that there has been a flood, that king David killed Goliath with a stone and Jesus died on a cross, would it prove that the Bible is true? And on the other hand, if we found out that (for example) there was no flood and that Goliath was actually killed by a 23 year old rhino who called himself "Steve", would that mean the Bible is nothing but a big book of fairytales?
