It takes huge chunks of hypocricy and delusion to claim that atheists are attacking religious people. Whatever atheists have done, it is so vastly overshadowed by religion showing extreme violence and/or discrimination.

It is like saying "army of elephants trampled over a few rabbits but the rabbits had judgmental gaze! They are equally guilty"

Comparing atheists aggression with religious people's aggression is disgusting and makes me want to puke around randomly. Either you are living in another planet with no clue about the earth and its history or you are simply religious.

I can't say anything against that, since it is true.

Another planet? no. I just happened to go in a school with a max of 5 % religious people. And even though I am not religious, it makes me sick how they where treated by atheists who thought that they know everything better. And I am not interested in what past religous people have done which aren't even alive anymore. And I am not interested in anybody religous doing evil things right now. If a person in front of me is discriminated even though (s)he did nothing wrong and just because of his/her religion or beliefs, it's simply wrong.

I always found the comment "hell would be the absence of god and lack of meaning in life" very funny.

It's something most preachers/pastors have used as the basis of a sermon at least once.

It suggests that agnostics and atheists are already in hell, and while I can't argue, it's a very circular argument.

Why not just say "you should believe, because you don't believe". Well... you answered the question with itself.

The concept of Hell came during the Babylonian exile, do you feel those influences actually have tainted the bible?

Do you really think the bible isn't tainted...? It's something that humans have written, after all. And yes, I think that the concept of hell is something that makes the bible tainted (but not the only thing...)

Sin is a noun. You can sin by action or inaction. The definition I use for my children's ministries is the following: Sin is anything you think, say, do, or do not do that break's God's Law or makes Him sad.

God gave us a fairly specific Law in the Old Testament. Some of those Laws do not apply to the New Testament - and yes - there is a solid system of telling if it carries over or not.

Hell isn't mentioned many times in Scripture. All I need to know is that it isn't in the presence of God - and that's where I want to be. I'd like to WITH the One who gives all good things - rather than apart from Him for eternity.
