thanks i'll probably check out some of that. science does seem to have a lot more in it the religion. what religion does (when with the right people) is it provides morels such as suggesting to forgive your enemy and make friends with them. this accompanied by science is what society should be made of. when put together, if you think about it, science and religion are almost made for each other. religion preserves while science progresses. of coarse all of this fall apart when terrorism comes into practice.

Well, I personally take offense to the notion that morals and ethics come from religion.

As someone who is not religious, I still feel that I have morals.

So that you will not say that I am just using myself as an example, I will reference a moral code by someone who was not connected to religion.

Kant stated that any action that would lead to societal collapse if everyone would do it, is immoral.

This has no religious foundation, and yet, it is an ethical code, (very simplified to fit this forum), that many philosophers hold to, or have built on.

i said "it provides morels such as..." this was in no way implying that all morels come from religion. the fact is that religion is a community that is inductive of morel awareness and conformity. as far as i'm aware there was nothing incorrect about my statement.

True, true. I misinterpreted what you had meant. I thought that you were saying that science provides the, well, science, and religion does the morals and ethics.   If you are saying that religion is a source of ethics, but not THE source of ethics, then I see nothing wrong with that.
