But that doesnt answer my question of how did the alien come to be.
I know, but it does answer your question of how saying the alien did it accomplishes something
No it doesnt. The alien could have been created by a god. All it is doing is shifting the original creature. The question is still essentially the same, just with a different species at the focus.

Take for example, You create a virtual world. The people in it arent initially aware of your existence. They try to find out where everything came from and they think that a god did it. Through their pondering, and exploration, they discover YOU created them. That solves how they were created, but the original question of where everything came from still exists. They still try to figure out where YOU and your world came from.

Sure the alien example doesn't completely or even mostly produce an aswer, solution, etc. But it does give a posibility that doesn't have to include God or a god. Unless we view that alien as God or a god.

No it doesnt. Once again, where did thee alien come from? How do we know a god didnt create THE ALIEN? Even if our origins are no longer a mystery because of the alien, the aliens origins are still a mystery.

I'm not saying that I know what created the alien, perhaps the alien evolved like in the evolutionist theory. That'd be pretty ironic, huh? :P And you can always say an alien created that alien. The discussion can go on, for all intents and purposes, forever.

lol, yes it can go on forever, but it doesnt change the fact that nowhere does saying "an alien did it" accomplish anything.

But it does accomplish something by opening up a possibility.

But it does accomplish something by opening up a possibility.
But that possibility still has almost the exact same questions almost exact same solutions. In other words, it really doesnt accomplish anything. Lets say for a moment that it is an alien that did it.
Do you believe in Intelligent design or Evolution for the alien? It is still a completely viable question.

ah, no problem. I'm glad you pointed it out. I would've been irked if I knew you didn't tell me I was wrong. :)

The Alien answer is a viable one in the following division:

Was life on Earth caused?
>Yes
>>Was that life created by intelligent or mindless processes?
>>>Intelligent
>>>>Was that life Divine(Supernatural) or Natural?
>>>>>Divine
>>>>>>Then a God created life on Earth
>>>>>Natural
>>>>>>Then other life created life on Earth. Please start again and follow the division for that life. That life in turn might have  always existed or might have been created by Abiogenesis, other Life or a God.
>>>Mindless
>>>>Then life would have developed according to some natural law. (Abiogenesis)
>No
>>Then life on Earth always was. (that would be weird and refute most of what we believe about the Earth but it is possible.)

Or the short version

Life
>Was not created
>Was created by natural processes
>Was created by a God
>Was created by earlier life (recur through the choices for that previous life)

TLDR:
The possibility that some life was created by ID by Aliens does not commit the origin of the first life to ID. However since Abiogenesis is investigating Life on Earth and not All life at this time, ID by Aliens might be true for the local lifeforms.

Yes it accomplishes where we would have came from. I agree. It does not accomplish where life came from.
