I've been working on this deck with Essence. It is really fun to play but a bit more offense would likely improve it. I'm thinking about immolation with phoenix but it's quite difficult to balance.

what about fractals instead of mindates, you can fractal dev's for the lockdown then fractal the black dragon.  or you could fractal something cheap.

maybe -1 emerald dragon +1 forest spirit.

The inspiration was Demagog's post in the Signature Decks thread, sorry Sevs. 

I like the Mitosis idea; I'll try that instead of an Empathic Bond and see if that works out better.  As for the shield, it's not necessary in most cases.  The denial does it's job well.
