Unstoppable Grassbow [Unupped] https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=50846.msg1093550#msg1093550
« on: August 20, 2013, 06:13:03 pm »
Hi guys!

I've never really been a member of the community before, but i've made something i must share.
It's the unstoppable grassbow by me.

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
4vh 4vj 4vj 4vj 4vj 4vj 4vj 52q 55q 55q 592 5bs 5bs 5bs 5c1 5c3 5c5 5c5 5c7 5c7 5f6 5oi 5oi 5rp 5rp 5rp 5rp 5rp 5rp 621 8pn

The main idea is to put the most powerful creature into play as soon as possible paired with Thorn carapace, enchanted.

This is the Druidic staff with Flying weapon, Momentum, Adrenaline and Quintessence. I dare to say this because i've never lost a single game (not even pvp) when this monstrous staff came into existence.

On the first turn, you'll always want to play two Novas and two Sundials for hasten no matter what.
During the endgame it's recommended to keep the sundials for getting Elemental Mastery as the staff heals you for 20 per turn even if it doesnt hit.

Here is an example.

Spoiler for Hidden:

I tried it with Emerald shield also. It was fine, but i often decked out because it was too defensive.

UPDATE

After a longer break i have made a big improvement on stabilizing this deck.
In case someone didnt notice this is a Life Speedbow with highly defensive play style.

Here is the deck:

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]

I didnt necro this topic by chance. I feel so much power in those staves and want to still make improvement.
Waiting for any ideas of improvement, please include your reasons.

Ah, an Adrenastaffbow. I love playing these in PvP1. I usually don't run Quints because they have so much HP. Still, RT is a problem. You only have two copies of the combo, but I can see it working because of the draw power. If you want more of the combo (and another Quint too), you can run it with Quantum Pillars. I personally would run three copies of Momentum, Adrena, FW and Staff.

Thanks for your reply.
The main reason for only two copies is the limitation of the "24 card" deck and my restriction of wanting to use all 12 elements.
Also, i've only received my third druidic staff today morning, so i might give it a go.

@Higs-

I first concurred with Quint being less useful than a Lightning or two.  However, playing a bit with it the flying Staff really needs to survive many games and I had better overall results with Quint (this was against AI3 though, so maybe PvP would differ...).

I also agree with bomber's statement about using early Sundial (or two) as soon as you can for the draw power.  That strategy worked well for me (but save the rest for late game - Staff does indeed heal as normal without attacking at all!).

I would suggest dropping a couple Sundial in favor of SoB if you have them.  -2 Sundial +2 SoB is even better draw power and four Sundial should be enough for this deck if not needed for drawing.

No, with only two Staffs you'd definitely want Quint.

I dont really see any reason for so many quantum pillars. I think you'll be a bit short on :life quanta especially because you dont seem to be using enchant artifact, instead, you use one more of the already quite expensive shield. Believe me, i calculated it out and in my version you need exactly three :life pillars.

Hm, no, you don't -need- it. The only difference between using QP's and Emerald Pillars is that you'll be playing the shields much slower, and Adren a tiny bit slower. To be honest this type of deck is perfectly viable with only Novas, but then you'd use a different shield (if any). The reason it'd work is because you only use two Adren, so the :life demand is low.

QP's even out your quanta output (meaning you'll definitely be able to play the rainbow stuff) and lessens the risk of getting quanta-screwed. They also mean that you won't get completely screwed over by just one Black Hole.

Yeah but i tend to like to use my first adrenaline right on the second or third turns maybe on an arsenic. Anyway, i fear earthquake more than black hole. With using three :life pillars earthquake is no problem because it cant really strip more than one. But i might get handicapped if i get stripped of two or three quantum pillars.

Talking about black hole. When the opponents come to use it, it's usually already too late for them because all my cards are played on the field. :rainbow quanta isnt an issue because most of my rainbow cards only use up to two, so two novas eventually make them playable again and i dont need to wait for another black hole because they can be played on the same turn.

Edit: you might even want to consider holding back two of your novas if you see :gravity mark, but that's just an idea, i havent tried it.

EQ doesn't really affect the deck since Novas -can- power everything. The combination of EQ and BH is trouble for all rainbows though.

If your opponent plays BH that late, they suck, simply put. Any good denial deck with BH will maximize the healing and stop you from doing things like evolve your Lycan or grow your Spirit until you've amassed two Novas for playing the Lycan and then two for evolving it. In other words, it wrecks your offence.

Again, quanta isn't an issue for Nova decks, but QP's -stabilize- it and reduce your number of weaknesses, a bad draw included, which is the worst enemy of combo decks.

Personally i wouldnt call any random thing a stabilizing factor.  ;)
