The Shutdown!!!
As some of you may know I was working on a rainbow rush deck for a long time and suddenly I got very bored with it.  I started asking people about other good options if your bored with rush decks and was often only told "faster rush decks."  This made me start to feel like control decks were underpowered in this game and I wanted to investigate this further.  Through this investigation the Shutdown was born.

The idea behind it was to try to find a rainbow deck that could have just as high of a winning percentage as my rush deck but rely on controlling your opponents as opposed to just rushing out creatures.  After starting this deck Scared Girl posted her Frack You deck on the forums which gave me additional ideas.  So without further delay here is the deck!

Version 1

Version 2

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u3 6u8 74f 74f 74f 77j 77j 7dm 7dm 7gs 7n5 7q5 7t6 7t6 7t6 7td 80i 80i 80i 8pj

The idea behind it is to use your explosions, earth quakes, Poseidon, and butterfly effect to destroy your opponents quantum towers and then use black holes and pests to suck up the remaining quantum.

The Fractals are used on pests, vampires, or your opponents creatures.  THIS IS NOT ANOTHER FRACTAL PEST DECK!  That being said, you should not feel like you NEED to fractal the pests to control your opponent.  You can easily get by with just playing one or two pests and then just destroying all his towers with a butterfly effect or Poseidon.

Once you have the shutdown in place then bring out an owl's eye to take out any creatures that may have slipped out.  If your owl's eye is buried then fractal your vampire.  This can save you from getting out damaged.

The second variation on this deck is used when I think there is a good chance I could be going up against another rainbow.

Pros

A very fun deck to play!
Once the shut down is in place there is very little your opponent can do to stop you.
Will dominate most mono and duo decks.
Every time you play it is slightly different.
Starting with some SNs can make this deck even faster than a fractal pest deck.
Quantum towers give you extra protection against fractal pest decks.
Being a rainbow gives you many more options with the use of your fractals.

Cons

Super Novas and Cremations will often let your opponent get out more quantum then you can control and early creatures.
Rush decks can sometimes get out more damage then you can control.

So that is about it I'm happy to answer any questions about the deck.  I hope you all enjoy!

P.S.

Thanks to Puppychow for taking a look at this and suggesting the hour glass addition.

UPDATE

So loudog and I have been working on perfecting this deck.

These are the cards that he and I have considered to be essential to the deck.  This leaves 3 cards that need to be filled in to optimize the deck.  I would like to hear the communities thoughts on which 3 cards they would choose and why.

Personally one card I'm thinking about is plague.

Let me throw this out there right away.  I'm not thrilled about the permafrost.  It used to be a steal but that felt too  :darkness heavy.

I like the idea of an eternity for some extra creature control but then it will be a little too  :time heavy.  I could take out the hourglass but if you get a bad draw the hourglass becomes very useful.

Looking for any and all suggestions on what to do with that card :).

BTW Union suggested a mirror shield.

I think a discord would be more effective than the EE. If you're opponent can't get the quanta to play any creatures, you really don't need the EE. I'm sure it helps in some cases though.

Yeah especially since you have :entropymark and the fact that Discord has an awesome synergy with Black Hole.

Had one in there but if I didn't draw it in the first turn or so it became completely useless unfortunately and also had limited uses against quantum towers.

I know you shouldn't try to make a deck that can take on anything but I just found the EE seemed to have a little more overall use than the discord but also have thought of putting in eternity instead.  I'm open to all suggestions though of course :).

maybe you can add a second poseidon, then you'll draw it more often.

Probably wouldn't hurt but the poseidon isn't one of those game changing cards in this deck IMO.  It's nice when you get it but not necessary for a win.

What I really like about this deck is that a lot of different combination of starting cards can result in a complete shutdown of your opponent.  It is really more up to how creative you are with them.

You don't use any death or light in your deck.

You could throw in:
- Mirror Shield
- Plague (Fire Storm is better but you already have fire...)
- Miracle

haha great minds I guess silent!  I took out the permafrost and added plague just today.  So far it has been a pretty good addition.

I've played against this deck with you playing it multiple times. the biggest thing i have to say is add more damage. I won a match where i was locked down from turn 3 because vampire was your last card - you might as well have quit from the getgo. I sat there hitting spacebar hoping, but if you don't get damage out early it can be a problem. I would suggest taking out one black hole for another creature (either a vampire or something like a Giant frog with cheap cost and good damage -though i'd go for cockatrice since frog is susceptible to mass CC). This is a great, fast, control deck and i dislike playing against it very much!!

edit: miracle would be an amazing addition and add to the frustration. I know you'll have the quanta by the end when your enemy is slowly scrounging out damage. Miracle would be icing on the cake and make a lockdown a guaranteed win.

I take it your EE is to deal with creature with creatures that are already played?
