Hmm. Idk what to do here. I would argue that Gaurd is too weak to be very effective, Perhaps a Minor Phoenix? At least those are really hard to kill. Also, is Discord or Dagger more important?

I'm considering the following changes:

-1 Werewolf, + 1 Nova
-1 Giant Frog, + 1 Graviton Guard
-1 Abyss Crawler, + 1 Precognition
-1 Phase Recluse, + 1 Discord

I don't like creatures in this deck costing more than 3 quantum to play (besides Lava Golem of course), so I decided to change this.  Werewolf is really on useful to me as cremation fodder.  Precog and Discord were difficult decisions; precog speeds up the deck slightly while an early discord can disable the threat of shields/weapons/CC.

the main question is:
is the quantum usage/gaining ok?
-> phoenix is still a really good creamation targed and has the same cost like a werewolf.
+2 minor phoenix - 1 werewolf -1 phase recluse

I've been debating Guard because it's weak but cheap...but MP definitely sounds like a good idea.  I'm still keeping Guard though, since it speeds up launch.
Technically because this is a rush and not a SEM variation, Discord should be more important.  Vamp Dagger CAN give me EM wins, which is why I'm considering keeping them both in the deck to serve different purposes.  Discord is extremely useful early in the game; keeping the AI3 from playing Ice Shields and the like is an extremely useful advantage (incidentally Discord also has the ability to prevent the opponent from playing a single card to be used against me, effectively increasing my EM rate as well).

These sound like good ideas too.  Discord costs 3 quantum, so it's easier to pull off than Phase Recluse and I also threw it in there just to see if it would give the deck better ttw ratings, not that it would change the way the deck deals with threats entirely (I haven't had the time to test this, sadly).  I'm adding MPs to this deck, they're just too useful.  The quantum usage/gain should be better with these changes; 4 quantum for creatures just made them dead weight half the time and this should fix that hopefully.

Alright, so I've taken several suggestions into consideration and modified the deck to maximize speed and quantum gain/usage efficiently.  This is version 1.1 of Colours Ablaze:

Unfortunately I feel this deck may have taken a turn that I didn't want it to go at first, but this seems to be giving me the best results.  I went with 2 MP just because they're quick and easy to get off in this deck.  Same with Graviton Guard.  I decided to give up on Discord after being told that Vamp Stiletto was just better and Discord was a bit slow for it to be of any real use.  I'll be testing this deck soon.

If this were more monotone like PhoeniXplosion then I would definitely go Gavel.  However, Gavel, despite costing 2 quantum, has the chance of screwing up the quantum layout of my other critters which I don't want to risk.

Exactly, quanta is tight and gavel could prevet valuable critters from comming out.

Hmm...I honestly haven't had an occasion where 2 Graboids were drawn simultaneously in my beginning hand, but I see your point; I hadn't thought of fire eaters either.

Hmm... As I don't like rainbows, never have, probably never will, I can't be of much use. I would say scratch the fire eaters, start out as 0 attack, build at 2 a turn. Not necessarily very rushy, unless you're graviton

Alright, I finally got testing done for 50 games.  Sorry it took longer than expected, but sometimes I just get carried away with helping other people and my own ordeals fall between the cracks...Anyways, stats for 50 games:

As you can see from the data, this deck is surprisingly consistent.  Lava rushes are susceptible to bad draws on occasion, with this deck being no exception.  However, it's amazingly fast at recovering from bad draws.  50 games without a single ttw worse than 9 is nothing to scoff at, and the avg. ttw qualifies as "stupid fast" by jmdt.  What surprised me most of all was the time total.  49.07min. effectively means that each game averages at less than 1min. at optimal speed, which honestly scares me more than anything else.  I have little quantum issues to report; nothing seems unbalanced thus far through testing.

That average sec/game makes it the 4th fasest in game deck after V2 and the 2 shrieker rush varients and the second fastest ttw after V2.  dagger giving EM's is always nice
