not really.  in fact, the unupped elf would probably be a BETTER choice early to survive and stall until you get aflatoxin/shield/eternity lock

You face the risk of losing the elf before putting on aflatoxin, if playing it first is what you waant to do. A brimstone will be played with the aflatoxin, as it serves no other purpose, meaning it can't be killed too early.

one other thought:  the RoLs interfere with the auto-mulligan ... replacing these zero cost creatures with some 1 cost creatures counter-intuitively increases speed of deck.

Doesn't matter much since they're so cheap, but I did his with 1 brimstone fire eater and 1 damselfly (marginally better than having 2 fire critters in case somehow lack 1 :fire quantum)
