i use exactly the same as CB!'s variant except -1 lava destroyer, +1 mind flayer and damage output has never been a problem to me (nor lobo ability conflicting with fractal cost)
ok, maybe not the same since CB! might've included LS somewhere in there

Yep that exactly is the CB!`s version , every single card . I think that after played 2000 games vs FGs I can say it is probably the best version of the original deck which gave me the most upped cards.
Only FGs  that are pain in the a$$ are the one that are using improved healing. I just never have enough fire quanta ( or some other) to time fractal fast enough to kill them. 
Oh yes and scorpio is almost unbeatable now since poison fish got boosted.

Jade shield is also great against any other FGs with heavy permanent control like EternalP.
But I prefer using permafrost against Octane after I get my Pulvy up and clear some unstable gases.

Heh but octane is pretty much the best reason for jade shield... once its up he cant do more than 5 damage with any of his "creatures" so 2 anti matters on flying ones heals enough for 3 others basically, not counting any shards you have... which is why once you have Jade shield up its almost impossible to lose to him .

Blech, the thing I don't like about Creature CC is that many FG's have CC, so you either don't play them or use up a quint.

I personally don't have much of a problem with Octane as long as I play a Permafrost early. (Antimatter and SoG's definately help) Jade Shield is a nice addition, but personally (this is just my opinion), I like the Elite Queen better. (Spark-on-a-stick against FG's with CC, massive 4-damage "growth" against FG's without much CC)

I have been running CB!'s variant, and I recently got a purple nymph from the oracle. I was thinking -1 antimatter, +1 purple nymph, +1 quint. Is that what I should do, or does anyone have any other suggestions?

I tried that with only 2 quints and it honestly didn't make too big of a difference.

I am having issues with the jade shield, I just don't see what it adds. If it is protection from being exploded it seems like a PA would be much better, because the freezing part of permafrost is essential for keeping me alive I feel. In the matches where I can't draw permafrost or it gets destroyed and i have to rely on a jade shield, I have found it is very often not enough to keep me alive anyway. That is when I realize how amazing the freezing property is.

In other words, a PAed permafrost > jade shield by far.
