Upon closer examination of the picture provided to us regarding the dragon's lair, we found remnants of what might be an old teleporter. Excited, we tried to find the other end of it. These efforts proved insufficient, however we were able to get a workaround.
We got a Wizard to use his personal teleportation magic to get himself up to the floating island, to see if he could assess the teleporter, seeing if he could repair any damage. It was mostly intact, surprisingly, but then there was still the problem to if the other side was intact as well. "Only one way to try" he said.
The closest place we could get it was in a nearby town, evacuated after the appearance of the dragon. Walking through it was a ghost town. Wind slammed wooden window guards, but apart from that, the only sounds we could hear were the sound of our own footsteps, and the slightly nervous small talk between some of the soldiers.
The teleporter had obviously not been used in a while, and showed wear from weather. Despite this, it still worked perfectly and we were able to get to the island with little trouble. However upon reaching there, there was another problem. The ladder to the mine, where the dragon rested, had been destroyed. Surely there was another entrance, however finding it would take a lot of time, that of which we had little of.
We did consider jumping from an outcropping to the major platform of the mine, however there were two problems with this. Firstly, it would be dangerous, and could pose serious injuries to our legion. But more importantly, we would have no way to get up there. Since if we could, we could probably just climb into the mine itself.
Seeing no other option however, we split up and each moved into different houses. Some were inhabited by creatures, scavenging what they could from the desolate remains of what used to be a grand city. These creatures were weak, as they were only picking up after what the larger ones had left behind.
The passage was eventually found; an underground pathway that connected to a ladder coming up near the entrance of the mine. The house was in was nothing special, however it seemed to be a house that belonged to a miner of sorts. Equipment was missing, but there were rocks under smashed protective glass and shattered pictures of a miner with his family lying on the floor.
Despite all this, however, we got to the mine. This is where the dragon now lived, and where we would make our stand.
This is it.
