majofa 4 - 1 Odii Odsen

Game 1 (WIN)
Wasn't sure what to start with, so I ended up just going with Air rush. It's a fairly stable deck and can handle a lot of different matchups. When I saw mono Fire, I went, well crap. Luckily for me, my Fog Shield blocked about 90% of his damage, and I drew both my Blue Nymphs in my opening hand.

Game 2 (WIN)
Knew he would go shards somewhere. I packed Purify for Shard of Sacrifice, and Dessications for possible Squids or Damselflies. I got a low quanta draw, but he had a big deck and couldn't find a Nymph's Tears for a few turns. This allowed me to build a big enough Nymph Queen army before he could spam out Light Nymphs.

Game 3 (WIN)
I don't know why I like Scorpions and Green Nymphs, I just do. He was playing Ghostmare, but I got a pretty favorable draw. I never had to discard a Ghost of the Past, so that help a bit. Got a Nymph fairly early and zoomed some scorps. (3 cheers for 8 ups)

Game 4 (LOSS)
This is a horrible deck for this meta... not sure what I was thinking, but, regardless, he got a perfect draw from his Discord/BH deck. I almost turned it around, but I was 1 quanta short of getting out my Dusk Mantle. (also he went first, which meant he could get his Discord out, before I could play my cards.)

Game 5 (WIN)
Predicted mono Death with Shards of Sacrifice, but was too afraid to go with the mono Light. Ended up playing Discord/BH. Purple Nymph came just in time and I was able to turn around the damage and heal back up to full. Ended up scrambling him to 1 :death so he was unable to play Shard of Sacrifice, as he may have still been able to stall me out.

This was a pretty even match up - I lost the toss and drew only 2 quanta sources in the first 10 cards. But he didn't have an early Discord to mess with my quanta so it remained fairly even (and once he drew one I had a deflag and quanta in hand). I could have played a Phoenix earlier in the game, but I knew that if he was packing AM that I could not have recovered from that. So I held onto the Phoenix and in the end never played it, he top decked a 2nd Discord on the last turn to beat me by one turn.

Ghostmare is a bad match up for this deck to start with, but I had a great quanta draw and an early squid so I had a chance. But he had pretty much a perfect draw, lots of quanta and 4 RT in the first 12 cards, dagger, duck and nightmare sealed the deal.

Not much a rush deck can do against Bone Bolt, this was a pretty easy win.

Oh Jen Jen Jen - I wonderful series of play mistakes here and basically gifted Rootbeer the game. When your opponent can only produce 2 quanta and you can out damage them you should probably deal with the dragon that's going to eat your face. He played a dragon and I foolishly BB'd nothing and then BB'd his squid, his dragon then proceeded to eat my face until I died.

Root only drew 2 quanta, between Discord and SoFo he played almost nothing and my Abominations tore him down.

Not much to say here, I drew 1 pillar 1 pend and no other quanta, no RT's and a mitful of Ghosts and Nightmares. He fractalled the turn before I got a ghost in play which pretty much spelled the end for me. Looking at the deck now I probably should have used less pends.

Congrats on the win Rooty

I expected to see win the Odii, but lose to Majofa is nothing strange.
Well, now of the top 4th, I'll bet on Calindu.

Something happened to my text file that had the decks.  I'll post the ones I still have, and ask Laxadarap to send me the rest back to me.

Game 1: LOSS
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
4su 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61t 61t 61t 61t 61t 61t 61u 61u 622 622 622 63a 63a 63a 63a 808 808 80l 80l 80l 80l 80l 80l 81q 81q 8pu

Knowing Calindu's fondness for both entropy and fire, as well as unstable gas, I picked a deck that owned all of them in testing.  He went with devtal, and had a perfect draw, as well as getting all his upped pendulums to start.  I had a crappy quanta start and his devourers denied everything.  I got a couple psions out before the lock, but there was nothing I could do against his draw.  It wasn't a good matchup, anyway.

Game 2: LOSS
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
4sj 4vc 4vf 4vf 4vf 4vl 4vl 4vl 4vl 4vl 50u 55v 55v 55v 55v 55v 55v 56i 56i 56i 6ts 6ve 6ve 6ve 6ve 6ve 6ve 6ve 6ve 6ve 8pl

If I had drawn a dragon in the top half of the deck, I'd have won easily, despite his damselflies getting past the DBH lock.  I had his quanta locked down for the first several turns or so, but eventually I ran out of black holes; I got them all quite early.  (along with all the discords :p)  He got an owl's eye before I ever saw a shard of focus.  I got quanta flooded -really- bad.  I'd have won this matchup most of the time, but RNG laughed in my face.

Game 3: WIN (calin had illegal deck)
(I'll need the deck code from laxadarap, but I played monotime with pharaohs, nymphs, eternity, and I think hourglasses and reverse times)
edit: added deck

Calin ran an illegal disquake deck that stomped me pretty bad.  He only had one black hole and no other gravity cards, so it was illegal.

Game 4: LOSS
(I'll need the deck code from laxadarap, but I played a monoearth stall deck with gravity mark and pulverizers, auburn nymphs, 6 stoneskins, basilisk bloods, and I forget what else now)
edit: added deck
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink

I completely hard countered calin's deck here, but again I got quanta flooded.  (and I mean FLOODED :p)  I never saw a stoneskin all game, but I had 75 earth quanta very quickly :p  All I could find were pillars and basilisk bloods and one nymph, and he ended up OTKing me anyway, so they were useless; he got 4 bolts quite early.  I drew a pulvy on about turn 5-6, but it immediately got exploded.  I'd have won this matchup almost every time, but not this time :p

At this point I thought I'd been eliminated, since neither of us realized the 3rd deck of Calin's was illegal.  I was very disappointed with my performance; given average RNG on both sides, it would've been 2-2 at this point.  I'd also been fairly confident I could beat Calin again; I'd done it in round 1 fairly easily, even when my dune scorp deck gave me 6 chaos powers and no scorpions one game for a loss, so I thought I had it in the bag before the match began.  Silly me... :p

Game 5: LOSS
(I'll need the decklist from Laxadarap, but I ran monodark I think)
edit: deck

Calin got a nymph queen on about turn 3, before I could get enough quanta to drain it, and it bred queens until I died.  I nearly punched my screen when he told me he only had one nymph in the entire deck, and that it was a last minute addition... I'd probably have won if he didn't get it.  I had a fairly similar matchup vs 10 men in round 2 and won it quite handily.  He'd had 6 bolts and one queen there, too, as well as sancs.  I forget if 10 had shard of patience or not, but Calin did, though I had more steals than he had shards, so odds were I could've kept that under control, too.  His only chance was a quick nymph like he got, or else a shard before I could steal it.  I didn't have a (nearly) assured win by any means like I did in game 4, but I definitely had better than even odds here, and once more I couldn't make it happen.

For what it's worth, I think we'll see rootranger and 10 men in the finals (unless they play each other in semis) but it's too close for me to call.  Before round 1 even began, I figured it would be rootranger, 10 men, jen-i, and someone else in the semifinals (I was hoping me :p) but I wasn't confident about naming a 4th person.
