Got 2 Titans out decently quick, but his draw allowed him to Fractal on turn 3, which for Devtal is pretty much the best you could get. A couple turns later on his vamp and I could have still won.

Game 2 (LOSS) [vs cataTitan]
Another amazing draw from him: 3x Titans, 3x Animate Weapons, and a Catapult. No Sundials for me meant I was in death range very quickly.

Game 3 (WIN) [vs DiscBH]
He went first and drew the quanta to get a 2nd turn Discord. I, however, topdecked a 3rd upped pendulum and was able to put it out first turn. He ended up never even having a Discord. I drew enough damage and BHs to only let him play a lone dragon.

Yay for Bonebolt, one of my favorite decks. I gave it a mix of poison and damage. He deflag'd my Arsenic, which may or may not have cost him the game. I had just enough dim stall to win.

I was afraid of deflags, so I had to play my Sundials sooner than I would have liked. Ended up being one 'dial away from winning.

Game 7 (WIN) [vs UGdials]
Figured he might predict dims, so I went with a rushy deck. Oh look... UGs... First turn Long Sword and a Damselfly allowed me to get some quick damage. A late Silence + Fractal + Sky Blitz put him at 6 health, enough for my Long Sword to finish him the next turn.

Yeah, Calin pretty much wrecked me. Though my RNG was subpar, Calin played a very solid game with great decks and predictions. He deserves the win over me, for sure.

Yeah, I had the same experience with Calin; his combination of skill and luck was too much for me.  Honestly, had I been a betting person, I might not have even placed Calin in the top 8 at the beginning of the event.  However, upon considering how I could have been that wrong about him (he's in the finals, so obviously he knows what he's doing) I think I know why.  I was basing my opinion of him on events and encounters I've had with him months in the past, in previous leagues and tourneys.  Back then, I think I was a stronger player than he was, but he has improved and gotten better, whereas I've been pretty static in terms of skill for a very long time in this game.  It resulted in my underestimating his potential for this event; I was judging the Calin of six months or a year ago and not the Calin of today.  Even after the first round, where I faced Calin in the group round, I underestimated his potential in future rounds, because I'd had some pretty good matchups in that round with him, and had it not been for a failure to draw dune scorps in game 2, it might've been a 3-0.

I hope to qualify for the WC next year, and I hope to get my vengeance   I also hope that a few of the players I was expecting to get further will do so; there were a couple people I thought would do better, but might've had bad luck this time around.  There were a couple I was also surprised to see in the top 8 instead of those; I'd have probably called 5 or 6 of the top 8 correctly had I been asked to try and predict it on day 0, but I won't insult anyone by saying who I thought they were.  In all honesty, though, everyone I faced was a difficult opponent, and I think the skill levels of all the players were very close.  I'm quite confident that probably 90% of both my wins and losses in this event were simply just luck of the draw or cointoss.

Played against Catatitans. Started with a EQ on his 3 towers stack, which slowed him down a lot, then proceeded to get down a few creatures, which combined with a late Discord, were too much for him.

He played a Fire/Entropy deck, Phoenix/Discord/Deflags, possibly Antimatter too. Got out a Fire Shield early(which he deflag'd), and his Discord couldn't stop me to play my sanctuary, played another Fire Shield and managed to get a Fahrenheit out, which he didn't deflag'd, so after this I just needed the quanta for a Miracle so I could get him in the kill range with the Fahrenheit, not hard to do so.

He haven't usually played Eternity in Ghostmare, so this was a solid pick against it. He got a 1 pillar draw and I started with no Death Pendulums, managed to get a Light Nymph down, which he RT'd many times, which bought me a few turns for the late game, eventually, he couldn't RT anymore, so Light Nymph was there forever, which combined with SoDs, Miracles and SoSacs kept me alive.

Pretty much a ideal draw: 2 Titans, 2 Animate Weapons, 3 Catapults and 5 quanta sources, a nice 4-way split. Managed to outrush his Immorush for a 5 ttw, after he got a Destroyer out turn 1 and that's it.
