PvP World Championship 2015
New Qualifying System
<<< CURRENT STANDINGS - 2018 >>>Changes to the Elements the Game World Championships Qualification Standards
To better reflect the differences in achievements, starting with the 2015 season of the Elements World Championships, a points based system will be implemented. This system not only allows us to better select which players have earned a place in the event, it also allows us to seed the players in the event and create a fair balance of players across groups.
Points will be distributed as follows:
EVENT | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th |
Leagues | 10 | 5 | 3 | 1 |
PvP Events* | 10 | 4 | 2 | 1 |
Trials | 10 | 1-3# | 0 | 0 |
Tournaments | 4 | 2 | 1 | 0 |
*Score may vary depending on the number of players and diffuculty of the event. (1st place will always net at least 10 points)
#2nd place receives points based on the number of challengers minus 1.
The season will last from January - December.
Players who earn 10 or more points will be placed in qualification tier A. Players who earn 5/6/7/8 to 9 points will be placed in qualification tier B.
If more than 32 players are in qualification tier A, those with the fewest points in tier A will compete in preliminary rounds of the World Championship, and no players will be taken from tier B.
If fewer than 32 players are in qualification tier A, those players automatically qualify to the World Championship. A field of 16/20/24/32 players will be filled out via a qualifier among the players in tier B – whichever number is the smallest number that allows all tier A players and at least one tier B player into the event.
Championship points will be used to seed the players into groups throughout the event.
We ran the data for the three World Championship seasons so far in Elements history and determined that there would actually be an increase in the number of players in tier A under the new system compared to the number of players qualified in each year under the old system.
