Vangelios 3 - 1 dragonsdemesne

 :air :earth :water :time

Only won the first game.  Pretty sure I was robbed in game 2; game 3 was basically a 50/50.  Game 4 we both misplayed pretty bad, but my misplay turned out to be worse :p

If I'm looking at this right, this means Vangelios and I are tied in W|L|PTS. What's the tiebreaking mechanism?

The next tiebreaker is head-to-head record.

edits in progress with rest of the matchups, in case anyone ninjas my posting

dragonsdemesne (home) 3 - 0 Vangelios (away)   :air :darkness :earth :gravity

Spoiler for Hidden:

I had very good RNG, particularly in games 2 and 3.  Game 1 I probably had the advantage in the matchup, but even there I got lucky drawing both my steals.

game 1: WIN darkness vs earth

devs+mark helped vs EQ/pulvy, drained first nymph, dragon got shut down a couple turns later but it was too late by then for vangelios to recover.
got both steals for pulvyx2

game 2: WIN earth vs air

-vang gets an awful 1 damsel hand, i get 4 golems rush; no nymph/pulvy, but I didn't need them, since his draw was so bad

game 3: WIN air/darkness vs darkness/air

-I had good start, and topdecked the lone tower to play a dragon for exact quanta, which possibly made the difference between a win and a loss, though that would depend on how the stolen fog worked (or didn't, as the case may be)

Vangelios (home) 3 - 1 dragonsdemesne  (away) :air :earth :water :time

-one wings for me basically won the game on its own; hard countered

-he played the deck i predicted and was trying to counter via wings and reverse times...  EXCEPT he used pulvy and gravity mark splash, and I got 0 dragons in 17 cards, and had a slow hand.  He had 34hp when I lost.  Clever choice by vangelios, plus some very poor RNG for me.  Fortunately, I had no stress at this point, as I'd already advanced.

game 3: LOSS earth/water vs time

First player to get a weapon out first won.  I tried to copy Vang's last deck; it seemed pretty good.  I think Vangelios got eternity on turn 2, and I never drew pulvy, both due to my spamming gnomes turn 1 and not finding it in the next couple cards after redrawing all the rewound stuff.  I forgot to use my marks of water for some reason, but against monotime that was irrelevant, anyway.  I think it was because I had speedbuilt this trying to copy Vangelios from game 2.

Since I had no need to win this game, I picked something rather unorthodox, and tried to do a deck with OTK potential, since I was expecting a lot of CC.  I held dragons for an OTK against what I thought was a hand full of RTs, but was actually one RT and a bunch of steel golems/quanta.  I have no idea why Vangelios was sitting on golems, since I couldn't have done anything about them, and he could have won a lot sooner.  However, since he only had one RT, I could have won a lot sooner, too.  If Vang played the same as he did, but I'd played smarter, I'd have won.  If we'd both played smarter... I'm not sure who would have outraced who at that point.  If Vang had kept the quanta in hand but played the golems, I'd probably have kept the dragons in hand, but if he'd played the quanta, I'd have played the dragons and probably won.  Basically, we both played poorly this game, but I played worse, so I lost.

dragonsdemesne (away) 3 - 0 Odii Odsen(home) :darkness :death :fire :life

-pure RNG, I got to OTK first.  Pretty much a 50/50.  I think my deck was a bit smaller, but I can't recall for sure, now.

game 2; WIN darkness vs death

-lots of early devs, vamp dagger, he gets no early spiders; play eclipse to kill bone wall with my devs horde, drain his nymph, he gets 2nd bone wall, topdeck 2nd drain for exact lethal.  You know it's a bad draw for the guy playing monodeath when the guy playing monodark actually casts Eclipse and it's not the last turn.

I didn't write any notes for this one (I guess I forgot to save them) but if memory serves, I again had a good draw and Odii's was bad.  The matchup was pretty good for me, too.

dragonsdemesne (home) 3 - 1 Odii Odsen(away) :death :entropy :life :light

I had a bad hand; Odii did as well initially, but odii topdecks his discord t3, -almost- come back, 1 turn loss.  Probably a 50/50, but I got the 50/50 firestall mirror, so whatever.

Odii had a 1 pillar draw plus he was hard countered.  He was obviously expecting something like monodeath rush with those holy lights.

I think I'd pretty much countered Odii here as well.  I think Odii conceded before I ever drew a dragon.

At this point, both of us used up life, have 1 mono, have each other element 1x.  We each have to use either monodeath or monolight in one, and then entropy/x in the other

And then... Odii used a death/light duo.

He had a TERRIBLE draw, no sosacs at all, but he had no legal deck for game 5 anyway even if he'd won this one.  (we played this match before the other one, but this is the order I had it in my notes)

Bad hand, lost toss, no chance.  In retrospect, I'm not sure what I was doing with the phoenixes.  I don't think I ever drew them, anyway, but it's been awhile.

No notes for this one, but if memory serves, this was basically a counter to his deck, as he had no way to deal with fractal or dims or phoenixes, at least not without a great draw and lucky nymphs.  Aves' deck looked like something I'd have dreamt up myself, and I have to give credit for that :p

Aves had the perfect draw, I had no chance with mine.

Good games to all.  I'd love to claim I played better or designed better decks or something, but I can't do so; I definitely had well above average RNG in almost all of my matches, and with these four players in our group, I think it was pretty close to even who advanced and who didn't.

As for choosing elements, the only things I kept in mind were 1) don't give anybody their favourite elements and 2) Try not to give out any annoying duos like entropy/gravity DBH that aren't fun.  I also totally forgot to say in my PM to majofa whether i wanted shards/other banned, so it defaulted to 'yes' for me, but that's probably what I would have done, anyway.

Feel free to point out any mistakes I've made (if I used an illegal deck or something; I believe my notes to be correct and my decks to be legal, but stuff happens sometimes)
