World Championship - TOP 4



RULES
Before each round, every player will choose 6 elements and rank them in order of most preferred and send them in to majofa.
The only elements allowed are the 6 elements listed by your match up. (The top 3 listed from each player.)
You cannot use the same element more than twice in a match.
You cannot use the same combination of elements more than once in a match. (monos included)
Other elements' Pillars, Pendulums, Mark Cards, and Marks may be used. (Using a 'quanta card' doesn't count as using the element.)
You may use up to 4x upgraded cards, where 'x' is the game of the match you are on. (game 1 = 4 ups, game 2 = 8 ups....)
For each copy of a Shard you use, you must reduce the amount of upgraded cards in your deck by 3.
Limit 1 of each Mark card per game.
Limit 2 of each Nymph card per game.
You must declare your used elements after each game.
Best-of-7.

Vs Mono Death. I was expecting to lose this one because Dani had poison and I didn't. Nymphs made the difference, though. I afla'd an early mummy of mine to break down her bonewalls, and CC'd her creatures to stop her from getting much damage in. Ended up winning by about a turn.

Vs Air/Death. Horrible match up vs bonewalls and thunderstorm. Even with five minors in half my deck I couldn't break down the bonewalls.

Vs Mono Dark. No nymph or OE in 15 cards left me with no hope at all vs dusk + vagger. I forgot some upgrades and 14 quanta cards (not including immo) is too many. Not a well built deck, in short, I deserved a loss. Also, two immo decks in a row and no immo played

Vs Mono Time. Poison > RT, CC + Bonewall > Ghosts. Pretty awesome match up made for an easy win.

Vs Air/Dark. 2 unupped quanta in 11 cards sucked, so much. I had to play dagger and dusk and pray Dani didn't draw a steal/haxx shield, because I was way too low on quanta to steal back. She didn't, so I won.

Vs MonoEarth. A couple early quakes left me a little low on quanta, but with dusk, dagger and devs this was never that close.

I would have really liked to draw my eclipse here, but no complaints. If jen managed to use a nightmare at any point near the end the game may well have been turned around, but my devs really liked to nom those Darkness quanta. I had a quanta-low draw, too, which only helped me on the long run to not have too much excess quanta after numerous rts, I won when I got to draw my Dagger, basically.

I really thought I lost coin toss here unlike jen mentioned, but I had 10 water on turn 2 with jen having only 5. My perfect draw had jen getting brutally outrushed, by the time Poseidon got to use its ability there were only stacks of 1 pillar/pend left due to tears.

Jen mentioned correctly guessing my every deck, so I guess I'd use something unorthodox... Maybe too much so, drew all light pends and purifies early, started with 0 chrys, drew 1 dial in half the deck and 0 sop. Yeah...

I didn't like the idea of not getting any pillars in starting hand at all, but my lone shockwave and a nymph were there along with 3 Damsels, so yeah. All I needed was to topdeck some quanta ftw. Which I did. SoP did have me worried and it came pretty close, Nymph managed to spawn only 1 ug before it was shut down, but it was enough.

I quickly modded this deck with extra pulvis instead of diamonds and PAs I had in here since I was totally expecting UG. Instead all I got was pillars... ok. I don't complain about winning I guess :p

Ghostmare vs Mono Dark

I was almost certain that torb was going to go with mono dark to lead this - I briefly considered using a mono light deck with sancs and holy light - but I wanted to play ghostmare, so I tested 12 games in the trainer and went 9-3 in reverse testing but torb drew 4 devs in the 11 cards and consistently took my darkness quanta.

Mono Water Trident vs Mono Water NT Rush (w/ death pends)

Having seen how often torb used monos in the previous rounds and how often he was successful with his mono water deck I figured I'd play mono water with trident to smash his pillars - however torb drew 8 quanta producers in this first 9 cards won the toss and I drew neither a trident nor earth quanta to produce a stalling nymph.

Mono Light vs Crysaora Sundial Stall

Having failed so far in my predictions I decided to stay the course - surely I'd get it right at some point, UG deck had to be coming my way this time. Turns out I was wrong, but managed a win regardless.

SoP Wardens vs Mono Air UG Deck

Drew only 1 water pillar in my opening hand and 1 a couple turns later - had almost no means of stalling long enough to get the win in this match. I had 3 squids in hand but no means to play them and simply got out rushed. On a normal draw I may have had a chance but torb drew 3 dragonflies so even my trident was useless as a means of control.

Mono SoR Pharoah vs Mono Earth Pulvy

I think he likely had the deck advantage at this point - but my draw simply destroyed me - 2 SoR and 12 quanta - if I count correctly - I drew my 1 Pharoahs the last 2 turns before I died.
