How about choosing 2/3/4 elements lets say  ( don't seem to have real synergy)
The players are allowed to use all cards of the chosen elements. Making it a banned cards tournament with space for creativity?

each player has to use the same pre-set deck with three copies of one extra card of their own, rewarding 1. luck, 2. deckbuilding, 3. strategy

All decks must have 5 to 6 graboids and consist of exactly two elements (one being earth, with other cards not counting for any of the two elements). Mark can only be earth or time.

Idea #1: Transformers - More Than Meets the Eye

Creatures in decks may only consist of the following:
Skeleton
Mummy
Graboid
Phoenix
Fate Egg
Chimera (Bonus cool points for killing your opponent with a Chimera)

Graboids and Phoenixes could be capped to keep everyone from using shrieker and phoenix rushes. I also thought about requiring a minimum number of each card or a minimum distribution of each card, but couldn't decide on what would be equal or fair. I'm fairly new to the game so I'm open to anyone's ideas.

12 of the cards in your deck must consist of the following (in any combination):
Flooding
Lightning
Unstable Gas
Deflagration
