Restrictions breed creativity. Without restrictions, there is no creative deckbuilding that makes tournaments fun.

Anti-Mainstream

There are a number of ways to go about this, and one of the biggest problems is deciding what counts as mainstream. Mainstream would involve categories and mods/variations of it.

One way is to ban all cards that form a mainstream deck. Another is to only ban them from being in the same deck as each other. (Actually, I like the second one better, and I'll add to it)

Rainbow tournament:

• Only pillar allowed is Quantum Pillar
• Max of 1 copy per card
• All decks must contain cards from at least 6 different elements
• Max number of  cards from one element is 3
• Other cards are banned(only card allowed from other is quantum pillar)
• Nova,immolation,blackhole are banned
• Shards are banned

"RNG is thy Savior" or"Hit it or Jinx it" tournament:

• Decks must contain 6 cards of the 5 least used cards in the game
• Decks can contain up to 3 cards from the 5 most used cards in the game
• Deck size must be 30 cards,remaining cards can be any card in the game
• Shards are banned

"Mommy,can I eat that? " (Upgraded)

• All creatures besides those that can cause poisoning (puffer fish,scorpions,physalia and any other I am forgeting) are banned
• Arsenic,poison,purify are banned
• Fahrenait,Fire Bolt,Ice Bolt,Drain life,Flying weapon are banned

Reverse Speedbuilding

• 15 minutes before starting ,TO's reveal a list of random banned cards
• Players speedbuilt decks using any card in the game besides those banned
• Banned Cards list must be considerably bigger than the list in normal speedbuilding tourneys for this to be fun

"Trio but with a twist"

• All decks must be trios
• At least 15% from each element
• Each deck must contain at least 4 creatures,4 spells and 4 permanents
• All cards from the same category (spells,creatures,permanents) must be from the same element.For example,a valid deck can contain spells from fire,creatures from life and permanents from death.

• Only creature allowed is voodoo doll
• Arsenic,poison,fahrenait,fire bolt,Ice bolt,drain life,flying weapon are banned

• Permanent controll cards are banned

Pharaoh vs FFQ

1 - Players need to have 6 copies of Pharaoh or FFQ in your deck.
2 - Shard of Freedom and Shard of Readiness shards are allowed, the other shards, not are allowed.
3 - No upgraded cards.

Nobody would use FFQ.

SoR pharaoh is strong enough to farm higher leagues like gold/plat with no difficulty due to its speed and control. Even with shards banned, Pharaoh is mono and can create scarabs with CC potential while fireflies only produce quanta.

The Deck of FFQ may have advantages cc as SW and OE, also just 3 Shards of Freedon to effectively prevent attack scarabs or RT.

Vangelios makes an interesting point with SoFr. Get 4 of them out and the scarabs CC is shut down, shields are negated, and plus 50% damage across the board. The  produced from the unupped flies could fuel a miracle or a few sancs to make up for he slow start, but that might be wishful thinking. Overall, I'd give the edge to SoR'd pharoahs, but the FFQ wouldn't be completely useless.
