Only allow cards from 6 randomly selected Elements, with the most powerful cards banned if necessary.

Similar to how speedbuilding and name game can be done multiple times, I think the same can be said for this type of format.

Magic Vs. Nature

• Upgraded cards banned.
• Shards banned.
• Each player must choose between magic elements ( , , , , , ) or nature elements ( , , , , , ), and pick a main element.
• Each opponent you win against, you get their element for the rest of the game. (i.e. if you start with time, and you beat a darkness opponent, you get time and darkness next round)
• You're only allowed to use the elements available to you or that you've picked.
• Participants who make it into round 2 of the tournament must use at least 50% of their chosen starting elements in their decks. (i.e. if you chose life, and won aether, 50% of your deck must be life if you were to use a duo.)

The idea that I have is to change the win condition. Specifically the first person to play a dragon (or other expensive card) or get 75 of any quantum wins. This would get people experimenting with deck strategys that work towards a goal other then kill or deckout. It should probably be unupgraded because of the quantum gotten when you play a upped pillar or pendulum. The TOs could also think up another win condition to put in to play. My idea is quite open to customization.

• You must roll a 1d12 when told: This will be your main element for the rest of the tournament(Bazaar order).
• You may only use up to 10 cards, including pillars and pendulums, for any element(s) outside your main element.
• You may not have more than three elements in your deck.

Special Rules

• Upgraded cards are banned.
• The following Shards are banned: Sacrifice, Focus, Integrity, Patience, Freedom.
• The following cards are banned: Quantum Pillars, Novae, Blue Nymphs.
• No more than one of the following are allowed in the same deck: Discords, Earthquakes, Black Holes/Amber Nymphs.
• Before Tournament starts, choose whether you're going to be a Loyalist or a Patriot. You cannot change your allegiance once Tournament starts.
  
  • Loyalists may not use cards which skill costs a different quanta from their casting cost (i.e. Anubises, Sundials).
  • Patriots may not use cards which skill costs the same quanta from their casting cost (i.e. Deja Vus, Golden Hourglasses).
  • Cards which don't have an active skill (i.e. Ghosts of the Past, Devonian Dragons, spells {even skill-overwriting spells!}) or don't have their active skill cost any quanta (i.e. Dune Scorpions, M/P/P, shields, Arsenics, Empathic Bonds) can be used by both factions.

• You cannot use the same card cost combination in the same match. For example, if you use a 2-4-8 cost deck, you cannot use it again in the same match.

is just a set up i think would be fun. if you don't like it its fine, if its similar to another, sorry there is a mass of ideas here, and couldn't read them all. I'm bad at names, so my wordplay is best i could come up with for this.

I really like Muffin's idea of changing the win condition. I am actually thinking about as a win condition be the first one to reach 0 hp (whichs means deckout doesnt count). Sosac should be banned because with this you can do it in one turn and it's not what I have in mind.

In a sense you try to inflict as much damage to yourself (there are many ways to do that) as well as healing your opponent or preventing him from damaging himself. Along with controlling the board as usual. I can see a lot of great strategies and trolling during the games.


I dont want to spoil deck ideas or strategies or banned cards in public though.If TOs think that a tournament like this would interest players,I'd gladly help with working out the details/testing for possible deck balances etc.

*deck building; 6 of one card, 5 of another, then 4,3,2,1.
*this leaves 9 quantum cards for a full 30 card deck.
*this works well for upd, decks.
using these rules, i would only ban, water nymph, miracle, gravity shard, and earthquake.

this could be added as a speed build rule, or a team element tourney. i prefer always that decks are set and used during whole tourney.

Since the list of tournaments that have been done before was hopelessly outdated (and no one seemed to check it regardless...) I removed it from the original post. We'll take every idea into consideration, but for my personal support for a tournament, try to keep the following things in mind:

• The easiest tournament for everyone is a simple ban list based on some theme. Don't fret the details, overpowered cards like Discord or Dimensional Shield (obvious examples, depends on the specific cards that remain allowed) will be banned in addition to it by TOs.
• Since your tournament idea needs to be supported by TOs, giving them a ton of extra work to do while hosting is probably not a good idea.
• Stalling is bad.
• Randomization of cards/elements by TOs after the tournament starts is something I dislike.
• All decks should be prepare-able in advance.

This is just my personal list though (with some redundancy, I admit). You might be able to pesker persuade other TOs into supporting some of these ideas.
