Elements PvP Tournament - Your ideas!

Not sure if this idea was already posted.
Name Game tourney:

• Upgraded cards are allowed but not required.
• Shards are not allowed.
• Every participant may use cards with the beginning letter "E" "T" "G" (or any other combination the TO's want to set. My idea was E(lements) T(he) G(ame))
• Every participant may use TWO more individual letters. These two letters have to be sent to the TO before the tournament starts.
• There are two "letter groups". Group A and Group B. You have to pick the first letter from Group A and the second letter must be from Group B
• Group A: A-L Group B: M-Z (for example)
• The letters of each player will be public

Pros:

• Name games are always fun
• Individual Decks
• People who want to prepare and do some testing stuff can do it
• People who want to speedbuild have no a big disadvantage
• Unupgraded and upgraded cards can be combined and can be used in different ways (letters) (letter D -> Deflagration / letter E -> Explosion)
• Rules can be easily modified (Only one more letter instead of 2, maximum decksize is 45, etc.)
• Name generator tool by Vineroz exists: http://vineroz.site90.com/elements/namegame.php

Cons:

• Easy to build illegal decks -> Deck checking by TO's needed
• More work for TO's, since they have to check the submitted letters plus have to check carefully the winning decks after each game

Tournament Idea - Triple Tactics

Special Rules:

You must use a trio deck consisting of one type of Permanent from Element A, one type of Spell from Element B and one type of Creature from Element C.

Your deck cannot contain:

2+ types of cards from the same Element
2+ types of Permanent/Creature/Spell Cards
0 Permanents/Creature/Spell Cards

These rules do not apply to pillars and pendulums.

Banned Cards:

Dimensional Shield, Earthquake, Discord, Trident

• James Maxwell: must use 6 copies of Maxwell's Demon
• Erwin Schrödinger: must use 6 copies of Schrödinger's Cat

• Edward Lorenz: must use 6 copies of Butterfly Effect
• Isaac Newton: must use 6 copies of Momentum
• Paul Steinhardt: must use 6 copies of Quintessence
• Stephen Hawking: must use 6 copies of Black Hole

The players cannot change identity after the first match.
They must not reveal themselves to other players until they battle.
The main cards of other scientists cannot be used.
Shards are not allowed.
Only Stephen Hawking can use Discord and only 1 of it.

i like this idea, but what about mitosis, parallel universe, unstable gas, and perhaps others? they could have respective scientists.

6 copies of Earthquake would be OP, but otherwise you're right about there should be more. I tested these rules once in BL with Dm1321, and there wasn't really any OP strategy, but some tweaking in the numbers of copies might be good. If that ever happens, it's up to a TO to decide.

I was thinking about having tourneys based off film series. That is, for each film in a series, you need to have X element cards. After every game, you move on to the next film in the series (or maybe not the last part). The 2 examples I thought of were Harry Potter and James Bond

I can't remember all 23 bond films right now but tis just an idea.

Faction Speedbuild
4 team names are put up. upon entering the tourney room, you must declare your allegiance to a faction (pm the host what team you want to be in). 15 mins before the tourney starts, the host will sort the 12 elements into groups of 3 (using RNG) and post in the thread which elements belong to which faction.

Rusher vs. OTKmakers - unpgraded

Players must choose a side, Rushers or OTKmakers. Obviously, Rushers will use rush decks and OTKmakers will use OTK decks.

SPECIAL RULES

• Shards are banned.
• Nova is banned.
• OTKmakers MUST use rainbows.
• Rushers MUST use monos or duos.
• Nymphs are banned.
• No deck must contain more than 40 cards.
• Holy Light is illegal if used to damage a / creature.
• You may only use up to 2 copies of the following cards: Sky Blitz, GotP, Voodoo Doll, any shield.
• OTKmakers can use Dim shield.

What's the reasoning behind the humongous ban list? And do OTKers have to make OTKs?

Anyways, the Rushers just have so much advantage, cause as an archetype Rushes trump over OTK.

SPECIAL RULES

• Shards are banned.

• All decks must use 6 copies of Parallel Universe.
• 3 different decks must be sent to tournament organizers before the tournament.
• No decks can be Mono-Aether.
• Mutation, Spirits, Nightmare and Mindgate are banned.
• Fallen Elf, Alchemy Cards, Nymphs and Miracle are banned.
• All 3 decks sent to tournament organizers must be used in the tourney.

IMPORTANT: PLAYERS MUST TELL WHAT CARDS THEY SAW ON THE OPPONENT'S BOARD. TOURNAMENT ORGANIZERS MUST CHECK WHAT DECK THE CARDS THE PLAYER TOLD MATCH. Some ideas:

Liliputs and Brobdingnags (Inspired by Gullivar’s Travels):

• Players choose a side: Liliput or Brobdingnag.
• Liliputs must have cards with cost of 6 or less; their decks must have exactly 40 cards.
• Brobdingnags must have cards cost of 6 or more.
• Pillars, pendulums and Marks are allowed for both sides.

Rush and Roll:

• Players lose when they’re down to 20 HP.

Newbie’s Rejoice!:

• All decks must have 40 cards exactly.
• All decks must contain minimum 10 and maximum 30 cards of a single element.
• All decks must contain at least 5 ‘Other’ cards.
• All rares are banned.

Back in the Day:

• Cards introduced between Patch 1.15 to 1.32 are banned.
• Like the beta version of EtG, you are limited to six copies of Pillars/Pendulums.
