PvP Event - Computer Simulations - RULES (discussion) https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=52806.msg1114500#msg1114500

Computer Simulations
Original idea by: majofa   |   Developed by: everyone & majofa  |   Organized by: ???

Participants will build decks that the AI will use to battle each other. Are your deckbuilding skills better than the rest?

1. HOW TO SIGN UP?
Anyone with a forum and a chat account can sign up for this event. Start by reading the rules very carefully. Then sign up by posting on a separate sign up topic. If you cannot find a sign up topic, or if it is locked, this event is not currently active, and you will have to wait for it to restart.

There is no maximum amount of participants in this event.

2. GAME PLAY
This event will be run a little different than normal PvP Events. The PvP Arena has malfunctioned and now all battles take place in computer simulations.
Each round players will submit 2-4 different decks, according to the rules. These decks will be simulated (using the 'Elements Game Simulator' created by Xenocidius) and the players with the lowest win rate will be eliminated.

3. MATCHES
Matches are simulated 1000 (100?) times and the percentages are recorded.

- Each round will have different rules

It's a good idea to either record the matches, or take screenshots as proof, in case something weird, like a desync error, happens. Remember, a player who gets caught cheating, will be permanently banned from all Elements community PvP events, so please play fair. Good news, no desync errors!

4. AFTER DUELS
The results and the decks will be posted at the end of the round.

5. WINNER
The last player remaining wins the event.
The winner is also automatically qualified for the PvP World Championships - 2014.

6. REWARDS
Glory and the following forum award icon: ???

If you would like to help run this event, let me know.

Please also post any ideas for the specific rules for each round, they will all be considered by myself and the organizer of the event.

It would be good to also note Shards are not allowed (due to XenoSim not having them in it's cardset).

Also, since it is simulation and those can be done hundreds in a few seconds I think more is better.  You currently have "1000 (100?)" in the rules but I would suggest even more than 1,000.  How about 2,500 simulations?  In a really close deck-match-up it can take this many (even more possibly) to show any separation.

(Judging by the "?" in the rules I presume it means the rules are not hardset and can still change.)

Correct, the rules are still up for discussion.

Right now, if each player submitted 3 decks against 3 other players who did the same, it would require 54 simulations. The question is would someone be willing to do a lot of simulations, can someone program a faster way to do it?

(Yes, you will know other players elements, in fact, you'll probably all have the same rules).

Are you thinking each person will fight everyone else every round, or will we make a tournament bracket?

Some possible rulings:
- no deck repeats allowed

- the more the better:  Person A's deck must have more copies of each card overall than Person B's deck. (Values to be decided by the current rules for that round). To compensate, Person A will have more than 30 cards for his/her deck.

- the less the simpler: Person A's deck must have less copies of each card overall than Person B's deck. (Values to be decided by the current rules for that round). To compensate, Person B will have more than 30 cards for his/her deck.

Organizer will probably supply a card pool for either of those two ^
There should probably be a card pool every round to avoid seeing the majority be mainstream decks.

-  more to come later?
It is the greatest mystery of all...

I think the simulator also lacks some of the newer cards.  I'm pretty sure it doesn't have dry spell, for example.

I don't understand your logic here actually. If you enter pvp you also don't know what deck your opponent will use...

If you would like to help run this event, let me know.

Please also post any ideas for the specific rules for each round, they will all be considered by myself and the organizer of the event.

You know I'm always eager to help in events. Be it official or not, give me a task or question and I'll make it ready/answered. ^^

I think AI-friendly deckbuilding is limited enough to don't add additional rules, however, I may want to see that 1 deck strategy can be used only once - rule, that means you can't ghostmare or psiontal twice, however you can go 2 different monoaethers twice with different main strategy behind each deck. And I would also limit the usage of Dimensional Shields.
And we keep driving into the night
It's a late goodbye, such a late goodbye...
